Este estudio presenta un análisis de convergencia económica en municipios turísticos de México durante el periodo 2000-2010, con datos de ingreso per cápita del programa de Naciones Unidas, publicado en 2011. El objetivo fue conocer el grado de interacción entre la vocación turística de estos municipios y el nivel de crecimiento económico de los mismos. Como hipótesis se sostiene que las características geográficas influyen en las disparidades interestatales a través del tiempo. Los resultados indican que existe una ventana de oportunidad para aprovechar las diferentes características de atractivo turístico en el país para que los municipios más pobres tiendan a crecer a tasas de producto per cápita mayores que los municipios más ricos.
El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo identificar el impacto económico que generan los turistas de cruceros en el puerto de desembarque, para este caso en el municipio de José Azueta, Guerrero. El turismo de cruceros es una actividad incipiente, pero que está cobrando importancia y por tanto se vislumbra como una oportunidad de desarrollo. La metodología utilizada fue la de base de exportación, efecto multiplicador e impacto económico. La información se obtuvo a través de entrevistas directas a una muestra representativa de turistas de cruceros y negocios en el área de estudio en la temporada octubre 2005 – febrero 2006. Los resultados indican que los turistas de cruceros generan un impacto positivo en el puerto de desembarque.
La importancia del estudio del impacto de la demanda final en el turismo está respaldada por la contribución del sector turístico al producto interno bruto (PIB), misma que durante los últimos años fue de alrededor del 8 por ciento. Este documento tiene como objetivo presentar el efecto multiplicador de una potencial inversión en el sector turístico sobre la producción, el empleo y el valor agregado en México en 2013. Para ello, se construye una matriz insumo-producto turística a partir de la cual es posible modelar dos impactos: la inversión en el nuevo aeropuerto mexicano y la inversión en el sector hotelero doméstico también conocido como FIBRAS en español. Se concluye un efecto positivo y significativo en la producción, el empleo y el valor agregado ante los escenarios de cambios simulados.
