<p><strong>Objetivo: </strong>evaluar la calidad de vida en pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en tratamiento con insulina, atendidos en una unidad de primer nivel de atención de San Luis Potosí, México. <strong>Métodos: </strong>estudio transversal analítico, realizado de junio a agosto de 2019. Se seleccionaron 127 pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 tratados con insulina, a los que se les aplicó el instrumento Diabetes-39 para evaluar la calidad de vida. Se realizó estadística descriptiva y se ocupó la prueba <span>χ</span><sup>2</sup> de Pearson para el análisis inferencial. <strong>Resultados: </strong>de los 127 pacientes evaluados, 80% presentó buena calidad de vida y 20% tenía una mala calidad. Se observó una mejor calidad de vida en pacientes tratados con insulina nph (protamina neutra de Hagedorn). <strong>Conclusión: </strong>la calidad de vida de los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 tratados con insulina es, en su mayoría, buena. La prescripción de insulina además de mejorar el control metabólico trae consigo una buena calidad de vida.</p>
