RESUMO -A hanseníase é uma doença infectocontagiosa crônica causada pelo Mycobacterium leprae. Após a introdução da poliquimioterapia (PQT) constituída pela combinação dos fármacos rifampicina, dapsona e clofazimina, houve um declínio nos coeficientes de prevalência e detecção de novos casos visando a eliminação da hanseníase. Diante disso, objetivou-se verificar a frequência dos principais efeitos adversos aos medicamentos usados na PQT/OMS e a interferência destes na adesão ao tratamento, além de investigar os momentos de realização de exames laboratoriais e a ocorrência de mudança no esquema terapêutico. Trata-se de uma pesquisa documental com abordagem quantitativa, cuja fonte de dados foram 70 prontuários de pacientes que concluíram o tratamento para hanseníase durante o período de janeiro de 2016 a dezembro de 2018 nas 17 Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBS) da zona urbana do município de Cajazeiras -Paraíba. Entre os 39 pacientes que apresentaram efeitos colaterais, o perfil sociodemográfico se compôs por homens pardos, de baixa escolaridade e residentes na zona urbana, clinicamente multibacilares e sob a forma dimorfa.
