Background: People in East Manggarai have a strong belief in traditional birth attendants in assisting delivery. It affects the selection of birth attendants. The strong belief in the people of East Manggarai to date is the practice of "Abdominal Massage" during pregnancy and birth delivery. This study aimed to get information about the abdominal massage practice performed by traditional birth attendants in Mamba Community Health Center, East Nusa Tenggara. Subjects and Method: This study was a qualitative analytical study using a phenomenological study approach in Mamba Community Health Center. The informants of this study were traditional healers, pregnant women who were going to give birth to traditional birth attendants and women who gave birth who had been helped by traditional birth attendants, head of community health center, public figures, and village midwives. This study used the purposive sampling technique. This study used in-depth interviews with non-participant observation to collect the data. Results: "Abdominal massage" technique to date was still performed by the people in East Manggarai, especially pregnant women and women who would give birth. This "Abdominal Massage" technique aimed to know and adjust the fetus position. Besides, the mother would feel strong, the baby would be healthy, the maternal body could move easily, and made the process of lowering the fetal head faster. The ingredients used for "abdominal massage" were easy to find. The minimum problems when performing "abdominal massage" with no "abdominal massage" costs made the practice still used by mothers. Conclusion:The practice of "abdominal massage" is medically dangerous for the mother and the fetus if it is carried out by non-professionals, such as traditional birth attendants.
Background:The COVID-19 vaccination has been recommended by WHO and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. Vaccination is carried out by pregnant women starting from the age of 13 weeks. Vaccines are expected to reduce the risk of pregnant women exposed to COVID-19. However, participation in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in Manggarai Regency is still low. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the willingness to vaccinate against COVID-19 in pregnant women in Manggarai Regency Subjects and Method: This was an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design approach. This study was conducted in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, from January to May 2022. The sample in this study was 65 pregnant women who had never been vaccinated against COVID-19 with purposive sampling technique. The dependent variable in this study is the willingness of the vaccine. The independent variables are knowledge about COVID-19, knowledge about COVID-19 vaccination, belief, safety, effectiveness and side effects of COVID-19. Data collection using questionnaires and data processing using logistic regression analysis Results: Vaccination willingness was strongly influenced by mother's knowledge about COVID-19 in pregnancy (b=0.046; 95% CI= 0.003 to 0.73; p= 0.031), belief in the COVID-19 vaccine (b= 0.044; CI 95%= 0.003 to 0.757; p= 0.169), vaccination safety (b= 0.048; 95% CI= 0.004 to 0.639; p= 0.022). there was no significant effect, namely knowledge of vaccines (b= 0.195; 95% CI = 0.019 to 2.007; p=0.169) and vaccine effectiveness (b= 0.470; 95% CI= 0.048 to 0.4578; p=0.516). Conclusion:Vaccination willingness was strongly influenced by mother's knowledge about COVID-19 in pregnancy, belief in the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination safety.
Adolescent sexual behavior categorized as one of the main public health priorities due to the high prevalence of Human Immunodeficiency virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and unwanted pregnancies. Place of residence and access to pornographic media contribute to premarital sexual behavior in adolescents. This study aims to determine the relationship between residence and pornographic media access to premarital sexual behavior in adolescents. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique of this study was simple random side-by-side on 174 respondents. The results show that most of the teenagers who live in boarding houses have premarital sexual behavior of 81.3%. Teenagers who have accessed pornographic media and behaved in premarital sex are 78.3%. Based on the results of chi-Square, there is a relationship between residence and premarital sexual behavior in adolescents (p-value 0.000 0.005). There is a relationship between exposure to pornography media access to premarital sexual behavior in adolescents (p-value 0.000‹ 0.005). The results of this study are expected by the government and boarding house owners to issue policies/rules for boarding houses. The health office and the Public Health Centre should increase the outreach program for adolescents about reproductive health, especially sex education. Tempat tinggal dan akses media pornografi berkontribusi terhadap perilaku seks pranikah pada remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tempat tinggal dan akses media pornografi terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah pada remaja. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Tehnik pengambilan sampel penelitian ini dengan simple random samping dengan jumlah responden 174 orang. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar remaja yang tinggal dikos memiliki perilaku seksual pranikah sebesar 81,3%. Remaja yang pernah mengakses media pornografi dan berperilaku seks pranikah sebesar 78,3%. Berdasarkan hasil Chi Square ada hubungan antara tempat tinggal dengan perilaku seskual pranikah pada remaja (p value 0,000‹ 0,005). Ada hubungan antara terpapar dengan askes media pornografi terhadap perilaku seksual pranikah pada remaja (p value 0,000‹ 0,005). Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan pemerintah dan pemilik kos untuk mengeluarkan kebijakan/aturan terhadap kos. Dinas kesehatan dan Puskesmas hendaknya meningkatkan program penyuluhan bagi remaja tentang tentang kesehatan reproduksi khususnya pendidikan seksualitas. ABSTRAK Stunting masih menjadi masalah serius yang dihadapi oleh dunia termasuk Indonesia. Kejadian stunting dianggap serius karena mengakibatkan keterlambatan perkembangan motorik dan menurunnya tingkat kecerdasaan pada balita. Tujuan kegaiatan ini adalah meningkatkan peran keluarga dalam melakukan upaya pencegahan stunting. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh oleh 4 keluarga penderita stunting, perwakilan warga Desa Rai, kepala Desa Rai, Kepala Dusun, Ketua RT/RW dan bidan coordinator di Desa Rai. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi dengan penyajian materi dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi, tanya jawab serta pembagian leaflet dan lembar balik kepada peserta. Semua peserta yang ikut dalam kegiatan ini sangat antusias, aktif dan mampu memahami materi yang disampaikan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang pencegahan stunting. Aparat desa seperti kepala Desa, bidan, anggota BPD dan masyarakat berkomitmen untuk bekerjasama dalam pencegahan stunting di Desa Rai. The incidence of stunting is considered serious because of the delay in motor development and the decreased level of intelligence in toddlers. The purpose of this activity is to increase the role of families in preventing stunting. This activity was attended by 4 families of stunting sufferers, representatives of Rai Village residents, Rai Village heads, Hamlet heads, RT/RW heads and the coordinator of midwives in Rai Village. The method used is education by presenting the material using the lecture, discussion, questioning, and distribution of leaflets and answer sheets to participants. all participants who took part in this activity were very enthusiastic, active and able to understand the material presented. The result of this activity is public understanding about stunting prevention. Background: Childbirth and the culture surrounding it are powerful dimensions of human society. Birthplace is an important component of birth, which can include physical, emotional, cultural and social aspects. Women make birthplace decisions within their socio-political and cultural context, which adds to its complexity. This study aimed to examine the association between socioeconomic factors and selection of birthplace in pregnant women. Subjects and Method: A cross sectional study was conducted at 6 puskesmas (Community Health Centers) in Pota, Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. A sample of 59 pregnant women was selected for this study. The dependent variable was selection of birthplace (home versus hospital). The independent variables were maternal education, employment, family income, decision maker, and travel time. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: The choice of hospital as the birthplace was associated with high maternal education (OR= 4.51; p= 0.020), being employed (OR= 2.75; p= 0.040), high family income (OR= 4.77; p<0.001), maternal shares the decision making (OR= 3.12; p= 0.030), and short travel time (OR= 4.45; p= 0.001). Conclusion:The choice of hospital as the birthplace is associated with high maternal education, being employed, high family income, maternal shares the decision making, and short travel time.
