O presente trabalho teve como objetivos realizar um diagnóstico da percepção socioambiental dos moradores do conjunto Residencial Pernambuco referente à geração, destinação e tratamento de resíduos sólidos no condomínio, buscando a interface com a educação ambiental. Pesquisas apontam que uma das maneiras de minimizar os impactos ambientais negativos oriundos da geração desses resíduos perpassa pela percepção e educação ambiental. Inicialmente foi feita uma revisão bibliográfica, além da pesquisa exploratória participativa com adaptações que permitiram identificar e quantificar as variáveis propostas, bem como no diagnóstico da percepção ambiental dos moradores do condomínio sobre a gestão de resíduos sólidos. De maneira geral a pesquisa apontou que as condições socioculturais e financeiras, sugerem a carência de conhecimentos da comunidade com relação aos seus valores e a adoção de práticas sustentáveis, muito embora percebam a importância das questões ambientais relativas a geração do lixo. Com relação ao entendimento sobre a geração dos resíduos sólidos, noções de repensar suas reais necessidades de consumo, e ainda praticar a separação do lixo em apoio a coleta seletiva, visando minimizar a geração do lixo, são atributos distantes de serem alcançados pela comunidade, até porque seus conhecimentos sobre são genéricos referentes a problemática da geração de resíduos sólidos. Ressalta-se que na apuração da pesquisa foi evidenciado a carência de informações entre os entrevistados, sobre compartilhar responsabilidades no tocante a percepção socioambiental relacionada aos impactos causados ao meio ambiente pela geração do lixo na área do condomínio. Desse modo os resultados da pesquisa visam propor ações mitigadoras, relativas à gestão dos resíduos sólidos gerados, bem como um programa de adequação ambiental.
