ABSTRACT:Irrigation is an artificial technique of applying water to the soil, where the amount of adequate water that the plant needs is distributed according to irrigation methods and systems. Irrigation is practiced in different continents of the world, differentiating only in the method to be used. Brazil is a country with great water capacity, however its irrigated area is considered small in relation to the other countries. The continents analyzed by the work are Asia, Europe, Africa, North and Central America. The main methods of irrigation used in Brazil and in other continents are spraying, which works as artificial rainfall and surface where water is applied to the soil, staying throughout the growing period. The localized irrigation method is a method that saves a lot of water in relation to the others because the water is applied directly to the root of the plant. In this way, the study aims to analyze the irrigation methods used in the continents and compare them with the methods used by Brazilian agriculture.KEY WORDS: Irrigation. Continents. Methods.
