Describir las percepciones de los odontopediatras con respecto a la bioseguridad para la atención odontológica en tiempos de COVID-19 en Lima, 2020. Materiales y métodos: Estudio cualitativo, de método fenomenológico y de análisis de contenidos. Se llevaron a cabo entrevistas semiestructuradas a profundidad a 18 odontopediatras, siguiendo las pautas descritas en una guía, a través de la plataforma de videoconferencias Zoom, luego de la aceptación virtual del respectivo consentimiento informado. Se empleó el software Atlas.ti versión 8.4 para el análisis de los datos, donde se cargaron todos los archivos transcritos textualmente de cada entrevista. Resultados: Los odontopediatras perciben estar empoderados profesionalmente de los conocimientos sobre medidas de bioseguridad y destacan el dominio de diversas técnicas como enjuague bucal, uso de equipos de protección personal, control de aerosoles, distancia entre pacientes y desinfección de ambientes, relevantes para la seguridad del paciente. Así mismo, refieren que las normas de bioseguridad son algo confusas, poco claras y carecen de enfoque pediátrico. Conclusiones: Los odontopediatras constituyen recursos humanos en salud estratégicos por tener un bagaje de conocimientos de bioseguridad como parte de su preparación profesional, además de recibir capacitación sobre las nuevas normativas de bioseguridad en el contexto de la pandemia del COVID-19. Es importante estandarizar criterios y enfoques en el modelo de atención de odontopediatría y garantizar las condiciones para la sostenibilidad de esta práctica profesional.
Objetivos: Determinar las manifestaciones bucales en pacientes con insufi ciencia renal crónica en hemodiálisis del Hospital Alberto Sabogal Sologuren (Bellavista, Callao, Perú) en el periodo de julio-agosto 2013. Materiales y Métodos: Se examinaron a 119 pacientes de ambos sexos. Se les realizó una anamnesis y luego con la ayuda de una linterna, espejos bucales y baja lenguas se les examinó la cavidad bucal de manera minuciosa. Resultados: Los pacientes examinados presentaron lengua saburral 88,2%, agrandamiento gingival 63%, sangrado gingival55,5%, caries dental 85,7%, cálculo dental 80,7%, perdida de inserción dental 72,3%, xerostomía 84%, halitosis 66,4% y disgeusia 55,5%. Se estudió la relación de las manifestaciones bucales según el tiempo de hemodiálisis, encontrándose que existió una asociación estadísticamente signifi cativa en la mayoría de las lesiones (prueba de Chi Cuadrado; p<0,05). Conclusión: Los pacientes con insufi ciencia renal crónica en tratamiento de hemodiálisis, presentaron múltiples manifestaciones bucales propias de la enfermedad y también como consecuencia deltratamiento aplicado, donde se ven afectados los tejidos blandos, tejidos duros y glándulas salivales.
