Objective: To describe the methods used in the humanization of hospital care. Methods: Integrative review with qualitative analysis in the Latin American Literature databases in Health Sciences (LILACS), the Nursing Database (BDENF) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The search was performed using the descriptor "Humanization of Assistance" according to the classification of Descriptors in Health Sciences. Results: The identified humanization methods were: Humanization in educational practice; Professional development; Technical host; Analytical Psychology; Humanization of assistance techniques; Recreational activities; Care model in mental health; Palliative care to terminally ill patients; Kangaroo mother method; Musivida; Ombudsman deployment; Process of interdisciplinary communication; Voluntary work and psychological assistance to hospitalized children. Conclusions: humanization involves the entire health institution and should be part of the way of thinking and acting, the process of planning, through to management and work processes of the healthcare team.
