El presente artículo tiene como objetivo determinar el nivel de educación financiera de estudiantes de bachillerato en instituciones públicas y privadas en Ecuador, así como identificar las diferencias de conocimiento entre ambos sistemas. Se utilizó un enfoque descriptivo con una perspectiva cuantitativa, tomando una muestra de 710 estudiantes de bachillerato del sistema público y privado en la zona urbana del cantón Loja. Se aplicó una encuesta basada en el test PISA, consistente en 14 preguntas sobre conocimiento financiero para evaluar el nivel de los estudiantes. Los resultados principales indicaron que los estudiantes tienen un nivel cuatro de educación financiera, lo que significa que la mayoría de los jóvenes pueden aplicar los conocimientos sobre temas financieros menos comunes. Sin embargo, al analizar los resultados por sistema educativo, se encontraron diferencias en el conocimiento. Se concluye que los estudiantes tienen un nivel adecuado de educación financiera, aunque existen debilidades en el cálculo de tasas de interés, inflación y otros temas similares.
