O câncer é um conjunto de mais de 100 doenças que tem em comum o crescimento desordenado das células, com a sua progressão, muitos pacientes necessitam de cuidados paliativos, na qual este modo de cuidar tem o objetivo de melhorar a qualidade de vida do paciente e sua família. O nutricionista atua no cuidado do paciente, visto que a desnutrição é prevalente em pacientes oncológicos, assumindo assim o papel de prevenir e assegurar a nutrição do mesmo. O presente estudo de revisão integrativa visa ampliar o entendimento entre a nutrição, qualidade de vida e o paciente oncológico em cuidados paliativos através do questionamento "Como a terapia nutricional pode contribuir com a melhora da qualidade de vida do paciente oncológico durante os cuidados paliativos?". A metodologia deste trabalho consistiu em seis etapas, iniciando com a escolha do tema e uma perguntar norteadora, seguindo para seleção de artigos publicados nos últimos 5 anos nas bases de dados Scielo, Lilacs e PubMed. Foram encontrados em todas as bases de dados um total de 102 estudos, na qual 95 pesquisas foram excluídas após as leituras por não se enquadrarem no contexto do tema e aos critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Enfatizamos a importância da atuação do nutricionista ao evidenciar que a alimentação é além do ato de ingestão, envolvendo emoção, cultura, bem estar e outros. Além de verificar a importância do acompanhamento nutricional precoce e da necessidade de mais estudos científicos sobre o tema.
