L'adozione della struttura multistato permette una certa generalitY, nell'esposizione del metodo, illustrato poi accuratamente attraverso alcuni esempi. La tecnica descritta consente di pervenire alla distribuzione di frequenze della variabile aleatoria '~valore attuale delle prestazioni dell'assicuratore". Tale distribuzione pub essere assunta come base di calcolo per determinare premi, livelli di prudenzialitk ed altre quantitk di qualche interesse.
I. IntroduzioneUna questione di rilevanza fondamentale nella costruzione di una polizza consiste nel quantificare i'importo che l'assicuratore deve investire alla stipulazione del eontratto per poter far fronte agli impegni assunti nei eonfronti dell'assicurato. La natura del problema ~ aleatoria a causa di due distinte fonti di incertezza: 9 generalmente non si conoscono i tassi di interesse futuri ai quali sars possibile impiegare le somme rieevute; 9 sono ignote le scadenze alle quali la compagnia dovrs eorrispondere le prestazioni pattuite.L'approccio tradizionalmente seguito suggerisce di procedere via valore atteso, assumendo tasso di interesse costante e cautelandosi al pifl con l'impiego di basi tecniche prudenziali. Questo approccio ~ detto "deterministico" in contrapposizione all'approccio "stocastico" che consiste nel considerare il valore attuale delle prestazioni della compagnia come una variabile aleatoria, funzione delle variabili aleatorie tassi di interesse futuri e scadenze dei pagamenti.
