This study examines the new possibilities in computer hardware and software, as today these are ideal tools for assisting the work of the designer of mechanical design. The change brought about by this technology is clear; yet the standards on dimensioning were composed mainly in the 1980s, long before the explosion in computer systems occurred. This question arises because of the designer's need to find a tool to assist his/her design tasks in the choice of dimensions and tolerances. The problem of functional dimensioning is common in machine design, but despite this there is no computer-aided tool for doing this laborious and complex job.The main aim of this study is to define a system of computer-aided dimensioning, using graphic design (CAD) systems and the necessary programming language.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
