La Sentencia T-622 del 2016 de la Corte Constitucional, que reconoce la cuenca del Atrato como entidad sujeto de derechos, supone una oportunidad inédita para la imaginación ecopolítica en el país. Este reconocimiento plantea retos, puesto que requiere un trabajo de traducción y representación para definir los derechos efectivos de la cuenca. Parte de este trabajo viene siendo desempeñado por el grupo de Guardianes del Atrato, quienes velan por el reconocimiento y la salvaguarda de unos derechos aún por concretar. En este artículo, abordamos la cuestión de los derechos del río no solo como un problema de representación jurídica, sino también como un ejercicio ecopolítico que busca anudar, de maneras novedosas, las vidas, las prácticas y los saberes que florecen a lo largo del Atrato.
En las playas de La Barra, a orillas del océano Pacífico colombiano, la vida acontece amarrada al movimiento del mar. La inquietud acerca de cómo se perfilan formas de habitar en medio del cambio permanente suscitado por el empuje del agua y cómo tal inestabilidad es asimilada por quienes la experimentan son las preguntas que
inspiran esta indagación. El artículo rastrea etnográficamente la formación de La Barra al compás de las mutaciones del entorno y explora las explicaciones que los saberes locales otorgan a dicha alteración. Desde una mirada antropológica que dialoga con la historia ambiental, este trabajo piensa la agencia humana en relación con las agitaciones de la naturaleza mediante una trama telúrica que liga la humanidad a las transformaciones de la tierra.
El presente artículo busca destacar la agencia multidimensional del oro en diferentes aspectos de la historia de la región Pacífico y de sus habitantes, tanto humanos como no-humanos. A través de las reflexiones que surgen de un breve recorrido histórico sobre el Pacífico y del trabajo etnográfico realizado en los ríos Quito y Guapi, problematizamos la relación entre los habitantes de la región y el oro. Nuestra tesis es que en la actualidad el oro ha perdido su carácter multidimensional (imán de la conquista de territorios de difícil acceso en el período colonial, dinamizador de la esclavitud, medio para que las personas esclavizadas pudieran adquirir su libertad y complemento económico de las actividades de subsistencia), para tornarse en un vehículo de devastadora explotación, tanto para humanos como para no-humanos, en un contexto de conflicto armado y de mecanización de la actividad minera, que profundiza sus rasgos destructivos asociados a la muerte y el despojo.
A orillas del océano Pacífico colombiano la vida sucede en un escenario conmocionado por las agitaciones del agua y de la tierra. En el litoral, la fuerza del mar suscita una inestabilidad constitutiva de sus mundos en tanto las vidas orilleras luchan, obstinadas, con dicha alteración. Colapso y creación trabajan como latencias que hacen pesada y aprietan la vida, pero que no impiden su florecimiento. Desde el encuentro etnográfico entendido como una relación vital que se cría en conversación con otros, esta reflexión se acerca a La Barra, población costera de Buenaventura. Seguimos las huellas de un devenir abrazado a la marea y a las dificultades que imponen otras fuerzas violentas. Esto es dado, dicen los barreños refiriéndose a su playa, pero es también arrebatado ya que no sólo el mar se lo lleva todo.
