Resumo Dados sobre o teor de ácido cianídrico em 14 capins e métodos físicos para a sua eliminação são apresentados, juntamente com alguns dados botânicos destas e de outras plantas amazônicas.
ResumoHemoglobinas de peixes Siluriformes pertencentes às famílias Doradidae; Auchenipteridae; Pimelodidae; Angeneio sidae; Loricariidae e Callichthyidae foram testadas contra anti-soros preparados para hemoglobina de Oxydoras niger (Doradidae: cuiú-cuiú) e Plecostomus plecostomes (Loricariidae: cascudo pedra). As reações serológicas de dupla difusão em ágar mostraram que o anti-soro para O. niger reagiu com hemoglobinas de todas as espécies de bagres e cascudos testadas, com exceção de P. plecostomus (cascudo pedra) e da fração I da hemoglobina de P. pardalis (cascudo comum). Por outro lado, o anti-soro para P. plecostomus (cascudo pedra) reagiu apenas com o antíge-no homólogo; com a fração I de hemoglobina de P. pardalis (cascudo comum) e com hemoglobina humana.
INTRODUÇÃOVárias espécies de peixes contêm em seus hemolisados hemoglobinas que diferem ponderavelmente entre si. Assim um mesmo hemolisado pode conter duas ou mais hemoglobinas com propriedades funcionais completamente diferentes. Estudos detalhados funcionais e estruturais em truta Salmo gairdneri (Brunori et al., 1974); Hoplosternum littorale (Garlick, et al., 1978); Pterygoplichthys pardalis ; Mylossoma sp., pacú (Martin et al., 1978) demonstraram estas afirmativas.Dentro dos Silurídeos tem-se observado que os peixes que sobrevivem em meios os mais drásticos, de extrema hipoxia e acidez como o são os das famílias dos Loricariidae e Callicthyidae apresentam de modo geral maior heterogeneidade eletroforética, componentes catódicos e anódicos, além de funcionalmente apresentarem diferenças qualitativas profundas. ResumoA análise qualitativa do efeito Bohr por eletrofocalização em gel de poliacrilamida dos hemolisados de sete espécies das famílias Loricariidae e Callicthidae da Amazônia Central nos revelou uma natureza diversa deste efeito. Algumas hemoglobinas destas espécies mostraram um incremento no ponto isoelétrico (PI) da forma deoxigenada em comparação à forma carboxy, como ocorre com a hemoglobina humana. Outras espécies contudo tiveram suas hemoglobinas com PI diminuído e ainda em outras espécies foi observado alteração no PI de somente um dos componentes. A modificação no PI das forma deoxy da hemoglobina correlacionada com a presença ou não de efeito Bohr normal ou ainda com efeito Bohr reverso. Pterygoplichtys pardalis apresenta efeito Bohr reverso por este método o qual foi comprovado por estudos de equilíbrio de oxigenação de suas hemoglobinas. Plecostomus e Hoplosternum thorocatum apresentaram componentes com efeito Bohr normal. Já em Sturisoma robustum observou-se a presença de alguns componentes com efeito Bohr reverso e de outros com efeito Bohr normal; enquanto que em Canthoporus genibarbis somente a presença de efeito Bohr normal pode ser encontrado. Esta variabilidade de efeitos Bohrs achados poderiam relacionar-se com o habitat destas espécies ou com sua habilidade para sobreviver em ambientes hipóxicos.
Resumo Alguns aspectos comparativos entre hemoglobinas de duas espécies de peixes do rio Amazonas foram analisadas, com a finalidade de estabelecer as bases moleculares de suas propriedades funcionais, bem como, as interações entre estas proteínas com outras moléculas e íons. As espécies estudadas possuem diferentes características fisiológicas de respiração, atividade motora e meio ecológico. A hemoglobina de aruanã por eletroforese em poliacrilamida apresentou um componente único com pronunciado efeito Bohr e Root. Os valores de "n" na equação de Hill, mostram variações apreciáveis com o pH, tanto na presença como na ausência de ATP (10-3M). As hemoglobinas de acari-bodó no hemolisado total não apresentaram efeito Bohr, contudo os quatro componentes isolados mostraram propriedades funcionais diferentes. O primeiro Hbl, mostrou pequeno efeito Bohr reverso e uma acentuada influência de ATP (10-3M) em pH baixo, sobre este efeito tornando-se normal, enquanto que os três outros componentes apresentaram efeito Bohr normal e nenhuma influência de ATP sobre ele. Nossos resultados mostram claramente a capacidade de adaptação molecular das hemoglobinas destes peixes às condições fisiológicas e ambientais a que eles estão sujeitos.
