<p>Los organismos internacionales han propuesto a la sustentabilidad como alternativa para superar los efectos del neoliberalismo. Sin embargo, los resultados en la reducción de la pobreza y mejora de la calidad de vida se han ampliado. La nueva ruralidad impulsa la pluriactividad para la generación de ingresos que permita conservar el modo y relaciones de producción enmarcadas en su organización social. El turismo, se suma a las actividades tradicionales de las comunidades fundamentadas en el aprovechamiento y conservación de los recursos, es un instrumento de desarrollo rural, el cual, mediante la participación activa de las comunidades les permita impulsar y fortalecer su identidad colectiva y regional. En este documento se plasman los efectos del modo de producción capitalista y los enfoques de la nueva ruralidad, en donde la parte comunitaria contribuye a mejorar la sustentabilidad social de las localidades rurales.</p>
