RESUMO -O Papilomavírus Humano (HPV) é um vírus de DNA que pode ser sexualmente transmitido e se destaca como um agente responsável pelo câncer de colo uterino. Esse tipo de câncer é a principal causa de morte entre mulheres que vivem em países em desenvolvimento. A apresentação clínica, em estados iniciais, frequentemente é assintomática, por isso, o rastreio adequado a partir do exame de colpocitologia oncótica, popularmente conhecido como Papanicolau, se faz necessário para que as alterações celulares precursoras do câncer cervical sejam precocemente identificadas e tratadas, evitando a progressão da doença. Dessa forma, o objetivo geral deste estudo foi compreender o perfil de alterações nos exames colpocitológicos de rastreio em mulheres da Paraíba no período de 2015 a 2019.
