Este artículo analiza el proceso de monetarización de los indígenas sionas de la Amazonía ecuatoriana, su economía recolectora y sus incertidumbres futuras. A través de un trabajo etnográfico durante tres años en la comunidad Soto Tsiaya en el río Aguarico, afirmo que las y los sionas anticipan su futuro económico a muy corto plazo porque viven una economía de recolección que les permite subsistir el día a día. Además, en su territorio suceden peticiones-recolecciones que forman parte de un proceso histórico de monetarización colonial y extractivista, así como intercambios vitales desde la interrelación entre los sionas y los no humanos, es decir su sentir y vivir en su cosmos donde se reproducen relaciones espirituales para su subsistencia. Más allá de un futuro donde la acumulación económica sea prioritaria, sus incertidumbres futuras reflejan las preocupaciones por sus cambios identitarios y culturales, así como la importancia de resguardar su territorio porque es la manifestación de su ser, pensamiento, prácticas, memoria, espiritualidades y economía.
