<p><span>La agricultura familiar es la responsable de la mayor<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>parte de la producción de los alimentos en América<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>Latina. Sin embargo, es evidente que las innovaciones tecnológicas desarrolladas para mejorar la productividad del cultivo de maíz Zea mays L. (Poaceae) no son del todo utilizadas por los pequeños productores. Con el objetivo de evaluar los atributos sociales, económicos y ambientales de los pequeños productores de maíz en el Caribe colombiano, se aplicó una encuesta estructurada a 227 productores de<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>los departamentos de Atlántico y Magdalena, que<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>fueron seleccionados mediante un esquema de muestreo estratificado. La información resultante fue estudiada con un modelo de regresión Poissontruncado en cero mediante el paquete estadístico stata®. Estos resultados permitieron inferir que para el departamento del Atlántico, los indicadores de edad, educación, índice de iniciativa, tenencia de la tierra, uso de maquinaria y apoyo institucional presentaron significancia estadística (p<0,10); mientras que, para el departamento del Magdalena, los indicadores de índice de iniciativa, educación, tenencia de la tierra, capacidad de asociación, apoyo institucional y régimen hídrico presentaron significación estadística (p<0,10), en relación con el número de prácticas empleadas. Se concluye que la innovación resulta de un proceso complejo en el que influyen factores internos (del propio innovador) y externos (del contexto cultural e institucional).</span></p>
Esta publicación surge de la iniciativa de un equipo de profesionales, investigadores y extensionistas comprometidos con proponer conceptos, enfoques, metodologías, prácticas, herramientas y reflexiones sobre la extensión agropecuaria, tópico que cobra cada vez más relevancia en Colombia. Igualmente, es una herramienta que los profesionales, técnicos o tecnólogos, que formen parte de equipos de extensionistas, podrán adecuar para contribuir al enriquecimiento de sus vivencias, reflexiones, aprendizajes y experiencias adquiridas durante las prácticas cotidianas, así como al intercambio permanente con productores y demás actores relacionados con la extensión agropecuaria. Los lectores podrán retroalimentar y codiseñar estrategias innovadoras para mejorar cada vez más el desarrollo de la extensión.
En agricultura urbana, parte de la transferencia de tecnología se realiza mediante talleres de capacitación en espacios demostrativos. Debido a la heterogeneidad de actores, es necesario generar estrategias de transferencia que se ajusten a las características y entorno de los interesados. Esta investigación se desarrolló en tres espacios demostrativos de agricultura urbana previamente establecidos en la Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria -AGROSAVIA, ubicados en los departamentos de Córdoba, Cundinamarca y Nariño en Colombia. El objetivo fue caracterizar a nivel económico, social, institucional y tecnológico estos espacios y analizar la percepción de los actores sobre los talleres realizados entre 2015 y 2016. A partir del análisis de 17 entrevistas semiestructuradas, 64 encuestas virtuales y la sistematización de 2 talleres de construcción colaborativa con actores externos, se estructuró una propuesta con enfoque en el intercambio de experiencias dirigido principalmente a las mujeres (66%) y estudiantes con edades entre 18 a 28 años (30%). También se sugirió que en las comunidades se realicen actividades enfocadas en la recuperación de saberes y la investigación colaborativa, en espacios denominados “satélites”. Las actividades desarrolladas en estos los espacios estarían soportadas en cuatro líneas de acción: intercambio de conocimientos; co-innovación; difusión y divulgación y formación.
La extensión agropecuaria debe conllevar a entender al productor como miembro fundamental del sistema agroalimentario. Esta premisa hace que sea necesario direccionar el trabajo que se viene implementando con la aprobación de la Ley 1876 de 2017, específicamente con el subsistema de extensión agropecuaria. Con el objetivo de establecer el escenario apuesta para la aplicación de las estrategias de la organizaciones que se encargan de la extensión agropecuaria en Colombia con visión al año 2025. Se define una matriz de métodos (individuales, grupales y masivos) y factores (infraestructura, tecnología y otros), así como definir los factores débiles para ser priorizados por expertos mediante dos rondas Delphi, definiendo los escenarios mediante una ronda de matriz de impacto cruzado. Se establecen cuatro escenarios al 2025 con una tendencia del 94 %, el escenario probable: política en camino diferente con un 29 %; el escenario apuesta: todos por el mismo camino con un 22.4 %; el escenario alterno: sin política y sin camino con un 21.3 % y escenario indeseado: la política llega tarde con un 21.3 %. Los principales métodos individuales, grupales y masivos que a futuro generan mayor impacto son las capacitaciones y visitas a todos los productores, organización de productores y giras técnicas y/o días de campo, aplicaciones móviles y radio, dentro de los factores necesarios las vías rurales, inteligencia de negocios y el factor débil las políticas sin continuidad y sin seguimiento. La extensión agropecuaria debe intervenir aspectos técnicos, económicos, políticos, sociales, infraestructuras rurales y tecnológicas para lograr impactar la calidad de vida de los pequeños productores.
