Hoy en día la enfermedad periodontal afecta un gran porcentaje de la población a nivel mundial, esta enfermedad no es otra cosa que la interacción entre las bacterias y el huésped originando la destrucción de sus tejidos de soporte dando así inicio de la formación de bolsas periodontales, pérdida de inserción, pérdida ósea, movilidad dentaria que incluso puede llegar a la pérdida de sus piezas dentarias, afectando por lo general los adultos a partir de la tercera década de vida y en menor porcentaje a los jóvenes. El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar la incidencia de periodontitis en sus estados crónicos y severos en los pacientes atendidos en la Clínica Integral del Adulto y Adulto Mayor en la Facultad Piloto de Odontología período Junio - Julio 2019 – 2020 a través de una metodología observacional, descriptiva, no experimental analizando 68 pacientes atendidos en la Clínica Integral del Adulto y Adulto Mayor de la Facultad Piloto de Odontología utilizando una ficha de observación clínica en la cual se permitió establecer la frecuencia del tipo deenfermedad periodontal, género, grupo etario, índice de higiene oral, lesiones de furca, movilidad dentaria teniendo como primer resultado que la enfermedad periodontal con que más prevaleció fue la periodontitis crónica y que afecta más al género masculino con un rango de edad entre los 30-60 años de edad con un índice de higiene oral deficiente concluyendo así que la periodontitis crónica fue la de mayor prevalencia.
La ausencia parcial de las piezas dentarias tanto en el maxilar como en la mandíbula, se describe como edentulismo; siendo considerado un problema de salud bucal que en la actualidad se relaciona con ciertos cambios estructurales a nivel de las piezas remanentes conociéndose como lesiones no cariosas donde los factores externos e internos sin injerencia bacteriológica pueden producen los cambios morfológicos en las piezas. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo establecer la prevalencia de las lesiones no cariosas en adultos mayores edentulos parciales, Método: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica sistemática en libros y diversas bases de datos, utilizando como motores de búsqueda scielo, Medline, Elsiever, Embase. Como estrategia en este proceso de obtención de información se utilizaron las palabras claves por medio de operadores booleanos, lo cual nos permitió sustraer la información más afín posible con el tema a tratar. Una vez seleccionada la información se procedió a una revisión minuciosa para así consecutivamente elaborar el presente estudio documental. La actual investigación documental servirá como punto de partida para investigaciones o estudios más exhaustivos y detallados sobre la problemática planteada permitiendo una mejor identificación, y correcto diagnóstico así como instar y formular tratamiento adecuados para la condición de salud planteada. Conclusiones Las lesiones no cariosas que tienen más prevalencia en un edéntulo parcial son las que se encuentran localizadas a nivel cervical e incisal como son la abfracción, la atrición, y la abrasión predominando las mismas en edentulos parciales con las clases de I y II de Kennedy. Podemos concluir que de acuerdo a las referencias bibliográficas consultadas la aparición de lesiones no cariosas en adultos mayores edentulos parciales están condicionada los hábitos y el tipo de Edentulismo presente en los pacientes.
El objetivo del presente artículo es determinar las diferentes alternativas de tratamientos para pacientes con clase II división I en el área de ortodoncia, la cual está caracterizada por una relación molar clase II, aumento del resalte incisal y la proclinación de los incisivos superiores; pudiendo estar asociada con mordidas abiertas o profundas. Se cuenta con diferentes alternativas para tratar la clase II con extracciones de premolares, la retracción de los incisivos podría jugar un papel determinante en la mejoría del perfil especialmente en lo referente a los labios, el configurador reverso sostenido II, bionator de Balters, activador abierto elástico de klammt y el activador de Andresen Haulp. El problema estético es el principal que los pacientes desean corregir siendo de las maloclusiones más difíciles de corregir y que causan mayor desarmonía facial generando un impacto psicológico negativo en los pacientes Clase II División 1. Como conclusión del artículo debemos tomar en cuenta la etiología de la maloclusión, para poder lograr un tratamiento adecuado, por ello es de vital importancia realizar una buena inspección clínica y una anamnesis, para lograr recolectar todos los datos relevantes del paciente.
Introducción: La microbiota oral es un vasto ecosistema de bacterias localizadas en diversas superficies de la cavidadoral, en los adolescentes éste entorno suele alterarse debido a los cambios biofisiológicos que comprende este grupoetario, modificando la frecuencia y diversidad de las bacterias y a su vez contribuyendo a la formación de enfermedadescomo la caries dental. Objetivo: Establecer las características de la microbiota oral en adolescentes de 15 años de edaden la ¨Unidad Educativa Liceo Patria Universal¨ mediante el recuento microbiano en las muestras obtenidas de lasuperficie dentaria sana y cariada. Métodos: Este estudio es descriptivo, inductivo- deductivo, de tipo transversal y noexperimental. Se consideró el sistema ICDAS para el diagnóstico de superficies sanas y cariadas, el índice de O’Leary paraconocer el porcentaje de placa de cada estudiante y el contador bacteriológico que permite representar el número decada colonia y el total de bacterias visibles en la muestra. Resultados: En piezas con caries dental se encontró elEstreptococo Mutans con el 10% en el sexo masculino y 13% en el sexo femenino, el Estafilococo Salivarius con 4% y 3%F. Piezas dentarias sanas, Estafilococco Sp. 1% M 7 % F y el Estafilococo Albus 7% M y 6% F. Conclusiones: La microbiotaoral es una comunidad de microorganismos que residen en nuestra boca para cumplir funciones importantes, es unaherramienta valiosa que permite la identificación correcta de las colonias bacterianas que habitan en la cavidad oral.
Los traumatismos y anomalías de crecimiento esqueléticos, estéticos y dentales que se presentan en la dentición primarias son los aspectos más difíciles de manejar en un tratamiento ortodoncia, se deben emplear tratamientos tanto intraorales o extra orales con aparatología para poder prevenir o tratar de manera temprana cualquier tipo de tendencia que podría llevar a algún tipo de mal oclusión. Objetivo: indicar la aparatología terapéutica fija y removible, así como tratamientos que deban depender de otras ramas como la cirugía para pacientes niños y jóvenes. Reseña del tema: dentro de este articulo reportamos varios casos en lo que se empleó diferentes tipos de aparatología para poder obtener un tratamiento más adecuado. Se realizó una búsqueda en bases electrónicas en diferentes plataformas tomando en cuenta artículos ya reportados y justificados. Conclusión: Con el pasar de los años se desarrollan nuevos tipos de aparatos y métodos de ortodoncia no solo interceptiva, sino también en jóvenes para mejorar su estética bucal y facial que se manifiestan como una nueva opción.
