Discussing Shamanism in Scandinavian Myth and Literature: a brief historiographical review Abstract:The purpose of this article is to outline a brief historiographical overview around the academic productions that question the shamanic phenomenon with the specific focus on the Scandinavian people and their connections as shown in Icelandic literature and poetry of the thirteenth to the fifteenth century. By its nature as a historiographical review, the article contains a brief thinking layout of several researchers and a presentation of their conclusions and contradictions. The academic debate, although directed to the scope of Nordic cultures, widely benefits the research on religiosities with shamanic configurations. The observation of the shamanic rite between the Germanic and Sámi Scandinavians was a strong point of debate among historians, linguists, archaeologists and other researchers of past centuries in various fields of knowledge common to the History of Religions studies.
