El presente trabajo ensaya una articulación entre propuestas artísticas situadas entre 1965 y 1973, concebidas como prácticas poscoloniales que resistieron políticas hegemónicas, y nociones provenientes de la antropología del cuerpo. El Accionismo Vienés ha enfatizado los impulsos destructivos en pos de socavar los valores de una sociedad de posguerra en crisis; Ana Mendieta desarrolló sus performances en torno a la violencia ejercida sobre los cuerpos coloniales/femeninos, y Hélio Oiticica desplegó la idea de incompletud permanente de la obra. Estas crónicas performativas se han configurado como respuestas a una herencia cultural eurocentrada derivada de la modernidad del siglo XVI. Los artistas instituyeron una crítica estética y conceptual, forjando un arco de posibilidades que fueron desde el contacto obsceno con los límites corporales hasta la celebración lúdica del vínculo entre el arte y la praxis vital.
Dentro de un contexto internacional que impulsó la abstracción, el informalismo y la experimentación matérica, y tras la presentación de Arte Destructivo en la Galería Lirolay de Buenos Aires en 1961, algunos artistas argentinos ensayaron la utilización de elementos precarios ensamblados, con grosores y texturas pictóricas. Durante los sesenta Rubén Santantonín construyó un conjunto de obras denominadas por él mismo «cosas», y a comienzos de la década siguiente Víctor Grippo comenzó a trabajar con papas, cables y metales. En este artículo consideraremos los trabajos de Santantonín y de Grippo en el marco de los aportes teóricos de los Estudios Visuales, destacando aquellas bases materiales que convierten sus producciones en objetualidades vulnerables, inmersas en una estética vigorosa y sensible.Palabras clave: Rubén Santantonín - Víctor Grippo - Estudios Visuales – objetualidades - vulnerabilidad.
A comienzos del siglo XXI la artista Lygia Pape realizó Carandiru, una instalación caracterizada por el uso del color rojo en alusión directa tanto a la masacre de 1992 perpetrada en el penal de São Paulo, como al genocidio indígena durante el Brasil colonial. La materialidad de la obra enfatiza la dimensión dramática de ambos acontecimientos y abre una serie de significaciones que se enlazan, a su vez, con la historia latinoamericana y el arte brasileño. La misma temática había sido abordada por Nuno Ramos en 1992 (año de los asesinatos en la institución carcelaria) en 111, una impactante ambientación conformada por piedras, bombitas de luz y alquitrán como elementos básicos. A partir del libro Estação Carandiru de Drauzio Varella, el director Héctor Babenco filma Carandiru (2003) donde retrata la matanza ejecutada por la policía militar. Este trabajo propone la revisión de aspectos visuales vinculados a los archivos y a la memoria a partir de determinados imaginarios culturales que abarcan instalaciones, objetos y filmaciones, donde la masacre es representada desde diferentes modalidades estéticas, políticas y poéticas.
Este artículo plantea un debate sobre los modos tradicionales que la Historia del Arte ha implementado para el ordenamiento y la lectura de las imágenes. Se analizarán dos curadurías que problematizaron la relación entre historia y producción visual. La primera corresponde a la exhibición «El tiempo del arte. Obras siglos XVI al XXI» en Fundación PROA (2009), organizada con base en tópicos que impregnaron los movimientos artísticos. En segundo lugar, se analizará Verboamérica (2016), inaugurada en el Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires. En este caso se instauraron ocho ejes a partir de los cuáles se agruparon artistas de la colección del museo. La investigación describe de qué manera estos itinerarios visuales socavaron los límites cronológicos de la tradición occidental.
<p>Reflexionar sobre las identidades en América Latina en el espacio de las artes visuales conlleva a una revisión analítica no sólo acerca de las alternancias con el pasado cultural, sino también del modo en que la transnacionalidad afectó las prácticas contemporáneas, especialmente a través de prolongadas etapas de exilios, diásporas, migraciones y desplazamientos. Un posible ejercicio conceptual se orientaría hacia la ironía o la parodia. En este aspecto, el artista colombiano Nadín Ospina sintetiza posibles permutas entre las producciones simbólicas de la etapa prehispánica, las actuales mercancías fetichizadas y ciertos imaginarios ligados a la esfera mediática. Proyectados desde el sarcasmo, Ospina materializa estos objetos-fetiche que aluden al mote exótico otorgado por Europa a la visualidad americana y ajusta la diferencia cultural al extremo de tornarla potencial y fluctuante. Por otro lado, Calimocho Styles -el dúo conformado por los mexicanos Rubén Ortiz Torres y Eduardo Abaroa- examina el tópico de las identidades inestables y cambiantes que proceden del tránsito fronterizo continuo entre Estados Unidos y México, indagando en las estrategias ambivalentes de generar productos culturales y proponiendo ficciones contemporáneas a partir de referentes icónicos de consumo masivo. En ambos casos se generan resoluciones visuales híbridas que emplazan numerosos interrogantes y discusiones sobre la interculturalidad y su incidencia en Latinoamérica.</p><p> </p>
