después del proceso de conquista la nobleza indígena tuvo que adaptarse a la nueva estructura de dominio hispánico y convertirse en mediadora entre las autoridades colonialesy la comunidad de origen. Este artículo reconstruye la incorporación de la élite indígena de laprovincia de Guane en las cofradías católicas. ¿Qué papel jugaron las autoridades indígenas en el proceso de consolidación de una corporación religiosa durante los siglos XVII y parte del siglo XVIII en el pueblo de indios de Moncorá? Para dar cuenta de este proceso se analiza de manera inductiva el Libro de la Cofradía y Hermandad de Nuestra Señora del Rosario y se extraen algunos datos estadísticos con el fin de identificar la participación de caciques y cacicas en el sistema de cargos de la corporación religiosa. La información suministrada revela que la nobleza indígena se integró de manera colectiva en la cofradía durante el siglo XVII. No obstante, al finalizar dicha centuria cedió su participación a indígenas del común, retrayéndose las autoridades indígenas a la periferia donde llevaron consigo las prácticas devocionales como el rezo del rosario.
Este artículo reconstruye el proceso de desamortización de los bienes comunales de los indígenas nahuas del sur de Jalisco entre 1824 y 1856. El objetivo es develar cómo los nahuas dispusieron de la propiedad al contar con títulos individuales de tierra. A partir de la revisión del corpus documental de tierras del sur de Jalisco se identifica cómo la desamortización se desarrolló de manera escalonada en cada uno de los espacios comunales que tenían los nahuas, desde los bienes del fundo legal y las tierras de repartimiento hasta las tierras de cofradías durante el primer liberalismo. Dicho proceso se desarrolló de manera paralela a la consolidación de los ayuntamientos, principales promotores de la propiedad privada. La titulación de las tierras en nombre de sujetos particulares permitió que ésta se convirtiera en un bien transferible, consolidándose de esta forma el esquema hacendatario en la región de estudio.
A partir del estudio Libro de la Cofradía de la Natividad del pueblo de Moncora, escrito por los curas del pueblo desde 1625 hasta 1805, y el cual se encuentra disponible en el Archivo Histórico Regional de Santander (AHRS), este artículo explora la fundación de un cuerpo corporativo que siguió de manera pragmática las Constituciones Sinodales e instauró el sistema electivo de cargos basado en el reconocimiento de las élites indígenas y españolas, las cuales compartieron la administración económica de la cofradía, la organización de las festividades religiosas y la adecuación de la capilla. El artículo analiza cómo la fundación de la cofradía no respondió a un proceso de coacción de los grupos indígenas por parte del orden hispánico, alejados de esta visión se considera que ambos grupos étnicos “convivieron” en la corporación al identificarse con la lógica de pensamiento subjetivista. A partir de la crítica de fuentes y la metodología hipotético-deductiva de investigación, se analiza la configuración de una cofradía mestiza, espacio en el que indígenas y españoles sellaban la permanencia del orden colonial bajo el juramento “en voz de uno”.
El artículo analiza el desarrollo de las cofradías del pueblo de indios de Suratá antes y después de las reformas borbónicas del siglo XVIII. Mediante los Libros de cofradías del Santo Ecce Homo y del Santísimo Sacramento y diversas fuentes primarias del pueblo de indios de Suratá, se expone el proceso de traslado de la población indígena de sus asentamientos originales para la construcción del pueblo y la asignación de tierras de resguardo. Luego se indaga sobre la agregación de pueblos indios como resultado del cambio del sistema productivo regional que buscaba ampliar la circulación de la tierra. El objetivo fundamental es mostrar cómo en un contexto de traslados se desarrollaron las cofradías en el pueblo y cómo en estas los Chitareros lograron reconstituirse étnicamente. Finalmente, se concluye que la dinámica de traslados determinó la marginación del elemento indígena al interior de las cofradías quedando estas en manos de vecinos, españoles y blancos pobres producto del regalismo borbónico que promovió la parroquialización y el despojo de las tierras de resguardo.
