El momento de bonanza económica que experimenta España en los años noventa da lugar a la cultura del adosado. El objetivo es demostrar que esta cultura del adosado se utilizó como un dispositivo de control por parte de los gobiernos democráticos españoles en los años noventa a través de las reestructuraciones urbanas de los extrarradios de las grandes ciudades. El análisis cultural del espacio de Adosados (Mario Camus, 1996) verifica cómo la película denuncia el control del sujeto que se inscribe en unos parámetros normalizados de los cuales parece imposible escapar. De ahí que se pueda comparar dicha cultura con el concepto de lo panóptico teorizado por Michel Foucault debido a que, con la reunión de la población en adosados a las afueras de las grandes ciudades, se estaba reorganizando a los ciudadanos de tal forma que sus movimientos y sus rutinas quedan delimitados. De esta forma, la clase media queda vigilada y controlada con fines productivos. Por este motivo, el adosado se presenta como una prisión homogénea de la que el protagonista del filme no puede escapar.
