RESUMEN Partiendo del valor analítico del monacato femenino como indicador de cambio político, se centra la atención sobre uno de sus aspectos más notorios a comienzos de la Edad Moderna: la intensificación del vínculo con la nobleza en una dimensión de poder nobiliario y subordinación femenina a través de la imposición dominante de patronatos. Este planteamiento se aplica a un ámbito geohistórico concreto, el obispado de Córdoba entre la imposición de la reforma religiosa de los Reyes Católicos (1495) y el Concilio de Trento (1550). El estudio de los contenidos de la figura jurídica del patronato en su aplicación cordobesa, de sus efectos sobre las monjas y de sus procesos de implantación y desarrollo, se completa con una descripción del nuevo contexto político fundado en la coordinación de los distintos sistemas de poder, civiles y eclesiásticos.
Estas páginas se nutren del reconocimiento del saber que supo trasmitir como historiadora nuestra compañera, la catedrática de Historia Moderna de la Universidad de Cádiz, M.ª José de la Pascua Sánchez, a través de sus trabajos y publicaciones donde el género y la experiencia femenina se situaban en un lugar central de la investigación. Sus aportaciones, aquí organizadas temáticamente en líneas principales de reflexión histórica, analizadas por especialistas conocedoras de su obra, pretenden constituir un sentido homenaje de la que fue una esencial impulsora de la Historia de las Mujeres en nuestro país. El profesor James Amelang, de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, introduce su obra en el contexto historiográfico que influyó más sobre ella. La profesora de la Universidad de Huelva, M.ª Luisa Candau Chacón, recoge su afán por historiar el mundo de los afectos, en su particular interés por abordar la emoción ligada a la cultura del amor. La movilidad y las migraciones, otra faceta igualmente transitada por M.ª José, es glosada por la profesora de la Universidad de Santiago, Ofelia Rey Castelao. Finalmente, el mundo conventual de las monjas carmelitas, sus experiencias de vida y de escritura son tratadas por la profesora de la Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, M.ª del Mar Graña Cid. A ellas quiero declarar mi más sincero agradecimiento por haber hecho posible este homenaje de la que fue maestra y compañera entrañable. Extiendo mi deuda infinita a la Revista Arenal, de la que M.ª José formaba parte como miembro de su Consejo Asesor, y a sus directoras, Cándida Martínez López y Mary Nash, por haber dedicado un espacio de la misma a este reconocimiento colectivo.
Con este trabajo analizamos los distintos modelos de reforma franciscana femenina documentados en un marco urbano local, Córdoba, entre las primeras noticias en torno a 1400 y 1517, fijando una cronología evolutiva. Partimos de la necesidad de conocer dichos modelos atendiendo a las tipologías de los espacios de espiritualidad que generaron, sus orientaciones carismáticas y sus posibles vínculos con los franciscanos. Valoramos la compleja evolución de las reformas y la incidencia femenina, tanto en el desarrollo de la Conventualidad y la Observancia como en su enfrentamiento. Es palpable el activo compromiso mostrado por las religiosas en estos procesos y su afán por compartir con los varones en clave de fraternidad, pero también, según contextos, por abrir ámbitos de autonomía. Asimismo, el interés de conventuales y observantes por ellas. Otra nota importante es el gran influjo que la espiritualidad jerónima ha ejercido sobre el reformismo franciscano hispano en su trayectoria bajomedieval.
