El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar el efecto de la harina de cefalotórax de camarón sobre el comportamiento productivo en pollos broiler Cobb-500 en etapa inicial. Se empleó cefalotórax de camarón para obtener harina con una extracción del 37%, tamaño de partícula de 1,5-3 mm y negativa para Salmonella. A los tratamientos (inclusión de 38, 40 y 42%) de harina de cefalotórax de camarón se le realizó análisis proximal: humedad, fibra, cenizas y proteína. El ensayo biológico se realizó con 45 pollos Broiler Cobb-500, con un día de nacidos, alimentados durante 10 días con los cuatro tratamientos con los niveles de inclusión de harina de cefalotórax de camarón. Se evaluó experimentalmente la conversión alimenticia mediante la ecuación factor de conversión= alimento consumido, en g/ peso pollo vivo, en g. El contenido de humedad (13%), proteína (20%) estuvieron dentro del límite permitido, el contenido de cenizas (5%) y fibra (8%) superaron el límite máximo permitido. El recuento de UFC/g de mesófilos aerobios no superó los límites permitidos (1,2 x 103) UFC/g de acuerdo con la normativa ecuatoriana. Los tratamientos (inclusión de 38, 40 y 42%) tuvieron efecto sobre la conversión alimenticia de las aves con valores de 1,81; 1,82 y 1,83, respectivamente. Se concluye que la inclusión del 38% de harina de cefalotórax de camarón influye eficientemente en el comportamiento productivo de los pollos broiler Cobb-500.
