Objetivo: Descrever as evidências científicas nacionais e internacionais disponíveis relacionados aos desafios causados para a saúde pública referente a casos e surtos da Síndrome de Haff. Metodologia: O estudo configurou-se como uma revisão integrativa, em que foi utilizada a estratégia PICo para elaborar a pergunta de pesquisa e utilizou-se artigos da literatura nacional e especialmente internacional para compor a amostra. Resultados: Foram encontrados alguns entraves: crescente significativa no número de casos de Haff (51 e 85 casos); expansão do surto para quase todas as regiões do Brasil (Norte: 82,35%; Nordeste: 27,05%); desafio do rastreamento e notificação; não identificação da toxina responsável e negligência das autoridades quanto a intoxicação alimentar, principalmente por DTA (Doenças Transmitidas por Alimentos). Discussão: Os estudos mostram que o maior número de casos da doença de Haff se deu por meio do consumo de pescados de água doce. Não há muitas informações acerca da doença e esse é um fator alarmante, pois o número de notificações pelo mundo vem aumentando desde sua descoberta, além de dificultar a realização do diagnóstico e tratamento. Conclusão: A ampliação de estudos sobre a importância da notificação dos casos contribuirá com o monitoramento e o procedimento operacional adequado, objetivando combater esse problema de saúde pública.
