Português Brasileiro.ABSTRACT This study is about the null indirect object in Brazilian Portuguese(BP). Adopting a comparative perspective it is proposed that BP differs from European Portuguese (EP) in the grammatical expression of the indirect object (IO). Also, based in quantitative studies it is shown that the null indirect object is more productive in BP. Both facts are relevant to understand the pronominal nature of the null indirect object. KEYWORDS: Null indirect object. European Portuguese. Brazilian Portuguese.
