Resumo-O advento de novas aplicações têm contribuído para o intenso crescimento de tráfego de dados. O modo de transmissão diferencial usado nos sistemas de cobre atuais possui limitações de alcance de taxa de transmissão, pois cada par do cabo é utilizado como um único canal de comunicação. Uma das soluções propostas é a utilização de modos de transmissão alternativos que aumentem o número de canais disponíveis sem a necessidade de pares adicionais, como split-pair, wire-shield e o modo fantasma. Neste artigo, o desempenho desses modos de transmissão é comparado a partir da taxa de transmissão. É visto que o modo fantasma tem desempenho superior aos modos split-pair e wire-shield na maioria dos cenários investigados.
