Resumo Neste trabalho foi empregado crescimento anódico de óxido de alumínio em solução fosfato (H 3 PO 4) a 0,4M sobre substrato de alumínio. A anodização usada foi a potenciostática sob tensões de 20V, 40V e 60V. As espessuras dos óxidos sobre as amostras foram obtidas mediante modelamento pela técnica de elipsometria. Esta técnica acessa diretamente parâmetros elipsométricos () e (Δ), e os compara com os gerados por modelagem. Com a técnica também é possível medir as propriedades ópticas como os índices de refração e os coeficientes de extinção em função do comprimento de onda. Resumo Considerando o uso da camada de óxido de alumínio para evitar a oxidação em ligas metálicas, torna-se necessário o estudo das propriedades ópticas e espessura da mesma em diferentes condições. A elipsometria é uma ferramenta poderosa para avaliar as propriedades ópticas, dielétricas e a espessura de um material, possuindo a capacidade de avaliação a nível nanométrica com elevada precisão. A formação de óxido em uma liga de alumínio metálico é um processo natural quando em contato com meio ambiente devido à afinidade com o oxigênio. É possível promover o crescimento da camada de óxido de diversas outras maneiras. Neste trabalho as propriedades ópticas serão analisadas em função do crescimento da camada de óxido. Sendo a elipsometria uma técnica indireta, as propriedades serão obtidas por meio de modelagem adequada a morfologia da camada e do substrato.
