Abstract. We present a modification of the recently proposed Sorkin-Johnston states for scalar free quantum fields on a class of globally hyperbolic spacetimes possessing compact Cauchy hypersurfaces. The modification relies on a smooth cutoff of the commutator function and leads always to Hadamard states, in contrast to the original Sorkin-Johnston states. The modified Sorkin-Johnston states are, however, due to the smoothing no longer uniquely associated to the spacetime.
Abstract. We construct a state in the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime which is invariant under the action of its group of symmetries. Our state is not defined in the whole Kruskal extension of this spacetime, but rather in a subset of the maximally extended conformal diagram. The construction is based on a careful use of the bulk-to-boundary technique. We will show that our state is Hadamard and that it is not a KMS state, differently from the case of states constructed in spacetimes containing only one event horizon.
Abstract. We construct states on the algebra of the Klein-Gordon field that minimize the energy density in homogeneous and in inhomogeneous spacetimes, both with compact Cauchy hypersurfaces. The energy density is measured by geodesic observers and smeared over a spacelike slab of spacetime, entirely containing a Cauchy hypersurface and extended in time. We further show that these states are Hadamard states. The present construction generalizes the construction of States of Low Energy in Robertson-Walker spacetimes presented by Olbermann [1].
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
