A group of selected hexafluorometallates ([AlF 6 ] 3− , [TiF 6 ] 2− , [ZrF 6 ] 2− , and [SiF 6 ] 2− ) has been adsorbed at the surface of titanium dioxide. Such modification influenced the electronic and chemical properties of TiO 2 , as well as its photoactivity. The modification with [TiF 6 ] 2− inhibited the efficiency of OH • production but enhanced the generation of photocurrent and singlet oxygen. The results of modifications with [ZrF 6 ] 2− were the oppositegeneration of 1 O 2 was not observed in this case and photocurrents were lower; however, due to a better OH • production, degradation of herbicides was faster.
Supported manganese-cobalt spinel catalysts and the corresponding mesoporous carbon supports were examined in order to reveal the effect of electric conductivity and surface oxygen functionalities on oxygen reduction reaction (ORR)...
Slight surface modifications of TiO2 (“insignificant” at first glance), such as exposing to reducing or oxidizing agents and deposition of small amounts of a semiconductor material at the surface, may strongly affect the photoactivity of materials.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
