A importância do Pasquim na história da imprensa brasileira está registrada em suas imagens. Até seus textos eram imagéticos, na medida em que eram cheios de símbolos gráficos e compunham as páginas como um quadro, sem muita coerência ou explicação. O jornal foi publicado durante mais de 20 anos, em diferentes condições de produção, e ultrapassou quase trezentas edições sob censura prévia e sob o rótulo de ser alternativo. Este último foi organizado por Tárik de Souza, que também escreve um prefácio explicando alguns detalhes sobre as famosas entrevistas. Apenas Roberto Carlos e Maria Bethânia não autorizaram a reprodução de suas conversas com o Pasquim, e Agnaldo Timóteo pediu uma retratação na sua entrevista, já que havia questionado, na década de 70, a competência musical de Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso e Milton Nascimento.*Doutora em História pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp).
Este artigo tem como objeto de análise o desfile de carnaval carioca da escola de samba do bairro de São Cristóvão/RJ, Paraíso do Tuiuti, em 2018 e a narrativa televisiva transmitida pela Rede Globo. A partir do enredo escolhido “Meu Deus, Meu Deus, Está Extinta a Escravidão?” a escola propôs uma reflexão a respeito da exploração do trabalho ao longo da história e, por meio da metodologia do paradigma indiciário de Carlo Ginzburg, propomos analisar a narrativa da escola e a narrativa televisiva, bem como documentos externos à fonte como o enredo, o samba-enredo e entrevistas do carnavalesco Jack Vasconcelos.
ResumoA história do jornalismo brasileiro durante a ditadura civil-militar vem sendo enriquecida à medida que novas fontes historiográficas são reveladas e analisadas. O objetivo deste artigo é situar o olhar estrangeiro do jornal norte-americano The New York Times sobre a publicação O Pasquim durante o período de censura, entre 1969 e 1975, quando foram publicadas cinco reportagens sobre o semanário carioca, e discutir os critérios de noticiabilidade do jornal norte-americano sobre a censura aos impressos brasileiros, bem como a forma com que o Pasquim foi representado e a relação entre as políticas dos governantes, os movimentos culturais nos Estados Unidos em um dos jornais mais importantes do mundo.
