Introdução:A rinoplastia aberta teve início na década de 1930; em 1956 Secer publicou pela primeira vez a técnica de rinoplastia aberta, porém esta ganhou crédito a partir de 1972 com Padovan na América do Norte. As indicações da rinoplastia aberta são: nariz sem projeção da cartilagem da ponta ou que requer avanço funcional da cartilagem nasal; laterorinia; nariz traumático; casos de rinoplastia secundária; deformidades congênitas incluindo fenda labial; valvuloplastia nasal e aprendizado da rinoplastia. Forma de estudo: Clínico, retrospectivo. Material e método: Os autores realizaram um estudo retrospectivo de 16 pacientes submetidos à rinoplastia aberta, demonstrando suas indicações, vantagens e desvantagens. A rinoplastia aberta permite a manipulação global das estruturas nasais e suas correções, demonstrando ser uma técnica de simples manipulação e fácil aprendizado. Conclusão: Neste estudo não foram observadas complicações pós-operatórias relacionadas à técnica de rinoplastia aberta.
