A puericultura é definida como um conjunto de técnicas utilizadas para avaliar o desenvolvimento físico e mental de crianças, desde a gestação até os quatro ou cinco anos de idade. Este estudo tem por objetivo identificar e descrever os modelos de puericultura encontrados na literatura, especificamente, nas bases de dados MEDLINE, LILACS, LILACS-Express, SCIELO, BDENF, HISA, SESSP-IBPROD, INDEX PSICOLOGIA, PUBMED, PDQ, LEYES, CUIDEN e PROQUEST, utilizando-se o descritor “puericultura” em português e em inglês entre 2010 e 2016. O método utilizado para realizar essa pesquisa foi a revisão sistemática da literatura, e a partir dela, produzir uma leitura cuidadosa das referências encontradas, buscando avaliar a qualidade do estudo e utilizar todas as informações definidas no planejamento. Foi realizada uma síntese narrativa com uma análise quantitativa e qualitativa da mostra bibliográfica, acompanhada pela discussão crítica do material. Os resultados demonstram que não há, em nenhuma referência utilizada, a descrição das práticas realizadas. Observou-se predominância do exercício da puericultura entre enfermeiros. No entanto, médicos e dentistas apareceram entre os estudos analisados, porém focados em áreas específicas, tais como: saúde bucal, desmame precoce, importância da vacinação e desenvolvimento neurocognitivo das crianças. Essa ação tem como consequência prática a compartimentalização do conhecimento sobre a criança, não tendo uma visão abrangente do indivíduo.
