Analyzing the results, the trephination may be performed at variable points of the frontal sinus, but the distance of 1 cm from midline appears to be safer and shows better aesthetic results.
Background: Cervical facet joints and neck muscles are common nociceptive pain generator, with neck and shoulder muscles pain, and limited retroflexion. Objective: To test the hypothesis that the portable TENS device would relieve cervical somatic pain. Methods: Forty-four patients with chronic cervical pain patients with somatic pain, but without radicular symptoms were evaluated in a double-blind, prospective, randomized fashion, divided into sham and active groups. The active TENS (TANYX ) or sham device was placed over C7-T1 spinous process, perpendicular to the spine, for 20 min at 12-hour interval during 3 days. The two groups were: placebo group (PG), with a sham device and the active TENS group (TG), which produced a mixed (85 Hz) frequency of stimulation, conventional, and burst. Diclofenac up to three times daily was available. Efficacy measures were pain relief, rescue analgesics and neck disability. Results: The active TENS device induced pain relief after its first application, which persisted during the 3-day treatment. By the end of the TENS application, the capability of rotation, lateral extension and retroflexion was improved (p < 0.05). The pain score and rescue analgesics consumption reduced in the TG (p < 0.01, p < 0.05, respectively), and the mean pain score dropped from 8 to 3 points (p < 0.01). There were no adverse events. Conclusions: Somatic cervical pain and disability improved after active TENS application during the three consecutive days, which persisted upon the 1-month reevaluation.
The complex anatomy of the frontoethmoidal recess, as well as its anatomical relationship with the vital adjacent structures in the region explain the reason for considerable surgical care to protect these structures and minimize complications related to healing. Trephination is an accepted procedure to access the frontal sinus. Aim: Discuss the best location for performing frontal sinus trephination. Methods: Measuring sinus frontal depth at 3 points equidistant to the midline (crista galli) through the axial tomographic sections. Results: We measured 138 frontal sinus (69 patients). Frontal sinus depth at 0,5 cm was statistically larger than 1 cm and 1,5 cm, as well as the 1 cm trephine point was significantly larger than 1,5 cm (12,22±4,25 vs 11,78±4,65 p<0,05; 12,22±4,25 vs 10,78±5,98 p<0,001; 11,78±4,65 vs 10,78±5,98 p<0,05). The trephine set used (maximum depth of penetration of 0,7 cm) is safe to be applied in approximately 80% of the patients. Conclusion: Analizing the results, the trephination may be performed at variable points of the frontalsinus, but the distance of 1 cm from midline appears to be safer and shows better aestethic results.
The general systems theory emerged from the works of the Austrian biologist Ludwig von Bertalanffy, published between 1950 and 1968. This theory has as its main purpose, to analyze the nature of systems and the interrelationship between these systems and different spaces, as well as the interrelationship of its parts. It also analyzes the fundamental laws of systems. Remanufacture, in turn, is an industrial process that consists of the steps of dismantling the discarded or already used product, the remanufacturing process includes the steps of cleaning its parts, repairing, or replacing damaged parts. This article aims to analyze the prose academic productions of the last ten years. Bibliometric analysis was performed through the Web of Science platform. : La teoría general de sistemas surgió a partir de los trabajos del biólogo austriaco Ludwig von Bertalanffy, publicados entre 1950 y 1968.
