O objetivo deste trabalho foi mapear e analisar os espaços públicos de esporte e lazer disponíveis no Morro da Formiga, favela localizada no bairro da Tijuca, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de campo, em que foram realizadas observações in loco dos espaços de lazer sobre as condições de conservação e acessibilidade para a população. O Morro da Formiga tem espaços de lazer muito frequentados pelos moradores, como a escola de samba Império da Tijuca, o baile funk e os bares. No entanto, as praças públicas e programas de prática de atividades físicas têm graves problemas para sua efetivação, o que restringe fortemente a utilização desses espaços. Concluímos que, a despeito das iniciativas de lazer que se fomentam pelo próprio interesse dos moradores, a insuficiente promoção e conservação dos espaços públicos de esporte e lazer refletem a produção e distribuição desigual das políticas públicas na cidade.
Este trabalho apresenta os resultados de um estudo piloto sobre a avaliação social da alternância entre [d] e [n], ambas precedidas de vogal nasal – como em como em [avaliˈãdʊ] ~ [avaliˈãnʊ] –, na comunidade de fala do Rio de Janeiro. Essa variável já foi objeto de estudos com dados de produção em diferentes variedades do português brasileiro (PB), os quais sugerem que [n] seria a variante estigmatizada, tendo em vista que ela é mais realizada entre falantes de menor escolaridade e de classes sociais mais baixas (GONÇALVES, 2018). Assim, realizou-se, remotamente, um experimento com 24 jovens universitários da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, utilizando a técnica matched guise, a fim de acessar os significados sociais das variantes em questão. Diferentemente daquilo que se esperava antes da aplicação do experimento, os resultados revelaram que a diferença de avaliação entre as variantes não se mostrou significativa, o que pode sugerir que a variante nasal não constitui um estereótipo associado à pouca escolaridade ou a falantes da classe baixa na variedade do PB analisada. Apesar de se tratar de um estudo piloto, este experimento pode contribuir para estudos futuros, sobretudo no que diz respeito à metodologia empregada e aos estímulos utilizados.
A hipótese segundo a qual falantes estabelecem representações detalhadas dos itens lexicais baseadas nas suas experiências com o uso, relativas à produção e percepção, situa a variação sonora no plano representacional, possibilitando novas abordagens sobre a dinâmica sociolinguística de uma comunidade de fala (GOMES e SILVA, 2004; FOULKES e DOCHERTY, 2006). Este artigo compara o comportamento de dois grupos sociais da comunidade de fala do Rio de Janeiro em relação à variação da fricativa em coda: a) adolescentes moradores de favelas que diferem em termos de integração social (amostras EJLA e Fiocruz); b) subgrupo de falantes da classe média (amostra Censo 2000). O comportamento de falantes socialmente excluídos pode contribuir para a compreensão da dinâmica sociolinguística da comunidade de fala, especialmente em se tratando de adolescentes, os quais representam um grupo importante na delimitação e expansão do significado social de variantes e na propagação da mudança linguística (ECKERT, 1989, 2000; WAGNER, 2008). Os resultados observados revelam que o grau de integração de jovens socialmente excluídos pode afetar o comportamento linguístico deste grupo, bem como evidenciam a importância do item lexical para detectar se há diferentes direcionalidades de mudança entre grupos sociais de uma mesma comunidade de fala para variáveis sociofonéticas.
Este trabalho apresenta os resultados de um estudo sobre a variação do tepe em onset complexo -como em p[ɾ]incesa ~ p[ø]incesa -, na comunidade de fala do Rio de Janeiro, a partir da análise de dados de produção espontânea de 08 falantes de uma amostra de fala composta por adolescentes excluídos socialmente (Amostra EJLA/PEUL). O objetivo deste estudo é verificar a atuação de condicionamentos estruturais e sociais para a realização do tepe em onset complexo, bem como investigar a possível atuação de condicionamentos lexicais. Partindo dos pressupostos teóricos da Sociolinguística Variacionista (WEINREICH; LABOV; HERZOG, 2006HERZOG, [1968) e dos Modelos Baseados no Uso (BYBEE, 2001(BYBEE, , 2010PIERREHUMBERT, 2003 PIERREHUMBERT, , 2016, foram analisadas todas as ocorrências de itens com a variável em oito entrevistas selecionadas, sendo os dados levantados submetidos ao programa Rbrul (modelo de efeitos mistos). Os percentuais de ausência do tepe revelam um comportamento semelhante entre os indivíduos da Amostra EJLA e indivíduos de outro grupo e com maior inserção social (Amostra Censo 1980, cf. MOLLICA;PAIVA, 1991), o que aponta para a possibilidade de a variável não ser influenciada por fatores sociais ou de os condicionamentos estruturais atuarem da mesma forma em toda a comunidade de fala. Não foram observados condicionamentos fonéticos para a realização da variável, sendo apenas a variável linguística "tonicidade" selecionada pelo programa. A partir da análise dos itens mais frequentes na amostra, aponta-se para a possibilidade de haver diferentes organizações dos itens que contêm o tepe: itens lexicais com alto índice de ausência de tepe podem indicar uma centralidade nos exemplares sem tepe, ao passo que os com baixa probabilidade e ocorrência categórica do tepe terão a representação dominante ou central com o tepe.
Este trabalho aborda a questão do estudo da avaliação social da variação a partir de resultados de estudos (produção e percepção) de uma variável sociolinguística junto a adolescentes socialmente marginalizados. A abordagem adotada difere da posição teórica assumida pelo modelo de ondas (ECKERT, 2012), em que se estabelece uma visão cindida de abordagens teóricas e metodologias usadas ao longo do tempo nos estudos sociolinguísticos. Assume-se que compreender o comportamento de indivíduos que estão à margem da estrutura social exige que se observe também o lugar que esses indivíduos ocupam na hierarquia social e a quais possibilidades formativas eles tiveram acesso.
