La síntesis de nanomateriales y nanopartículas para usos médicos ha llevado a la generación de la nanomedicina, rama de la nanotecnología que permite diagnosticar, tratar y prevenir enfermedades y traumatismos, aliviar el dolor, preservar y mejorar la salud humana utilizando herramientas y conocimientos moleculares del cuerpo humano. Este artículo revisa las aplicaciones actuales y futuras de los nanomateriales en áreas biomédicas y presenta los riesgos de toxicidad que se podrían generar por su usoindiscriminado.
Introducción: Las larvas de Galleria mellonella están siendo utilizadas como modelo animal para estudiar enfermedades infecciosas. Para evaluar microscópicamente las interacciones huésped-patógeno in vivo se requiere un correcto procesamiento histológico de las larvas que permita obtener buenos cortes para valorar los cambios que se generan durante la infección. Los investigadores requieren conocer la histología normal de la larva para determinar si el patógeno es capaz de generar enfermedad y si los nuevos tratamientos son efectivos. Objetivo: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo presentar el procedimiento de fijación y técnica histológica de las larvas de Galleria mellonella que realizamos de rutina en el laboratorio Técnica Histológica de la FUCS y la descripción histológica de larvas normales. Métodos: Las larvas de Galleria mellonella fueron fijadas con 100 ????L de FAATD y se realizaron cortes transversales y longitudinales, que fueron procesados de manera automatizada, en el procesador de tejidos Technicon Doble modelo 2ª. Las larvas pasaron a la central de inclusión para darle una figura tridimensional al casete y finalmente a cortes finos en el micrótomo. Se realizó la coloración de Hematoxilina Eosina (H&E) y registro fotográfico. Se tomó hemolinfa, se extendió en láminas y se coloreo con Wright para registro fotográfico. Resultados: Mostramos y describimos los órganos y las estructuras normales de la larva que deben analizarse en los estudios de patogenicidad microbiana y evaluación de nuevas moléculas para tratamiento de infecciones. Conclusión: El estudio histológico presentado es una herramienta que contribuye a la implementación de Galleria mellonella como modelo animal.
Objetivo: establecer un protocolo para la obtención de bloques de hongos utilizando agarosa como matriz. Métodos: los hongos se incluyeron en agarosa, el proceso se estandarizó y se probaron los protocolos en horno microondas, convencional y en el procesador automático para la obtención de láminas siguiendo la técnica histológica usual. Conclusiones: el protocolo del procesador para obtener múltiples láminas es reproducible y las preparaciones permitieron la visualización fácil de los hongos con coloraciones de H&E y Gomori. Introducción: el objetivo de esta investigación fue describir un método para la producción de láminas de hongos para ser usadas en docencia.
Métodos: un total de 420 bloques de agar de 28 especies de hongos fueron producidos y se evaluaron tres colorantes: azul de lactofenol, azul vegetal y rojo vegetal.
Resultados: la metodología empleada permitió la visualización de estructuras conidiógenas intactas para la mayoría de los hongos. Después de un año de almacenamiento el 96,1 % de las 420 láminas preparadas permanecieron en buen estado, tanto macroscópica como microscópicamente.
Conclusiones: la metodología de producción de láminas implementada se consideró como innovadora, lo que permitirá facilitar el proceso de formación y optimizará la forma de enseñar la micología.
