A mamografia é o exame padrão ouro para rastreamento do câncer de mama, sendo recomendada pelo Ministério da Saúde do Brasil a cada 2 anos para mulheres de 50 a 69 anos. Por ter uma grande demanda nos serviços de diagnóstico por imagem e pela sua importância clínica, o controle de qualidade e o processo de otimização são ferramentas indispensáveis para a garantia da qualidade do exame de mamografia. O mamógrafo avaliado neste trabalho é limitado, no modo automático, a uma tensão máxima de 30 kVp, acarretando um prejuízo para imagens de mamas espessas, em que é necessário o uso de tensões maiores para produzir uma imagem com qualidade diagnóstica. Desta forma, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a relação contraste-ruído (RCR), a dose glandular média (DGM) e a qualidade da imagem, em um processo de otimização direcionado para o uso de feixes mais energéticos em mamas espessas (equivalentes a 7 cm de PMMA). Os resultados mostraram que com o uso do modo manual para aumentar a energia do feixe (32 e 35 kVp), a RCRrel foi maior, aumentando consequentemente a DGM. Foi observada uma tendência de redução da Figura de Mérito (FOM) à medida que o produto corrente-tempo (mAs) aumentou de forma suficiente para atender à exigência nacional mínima. Em relação à qualidade da imagem em comparação ao uso do modo automático, foi possível observar uma maior quantidade de grupos de microcalcificações e fibras.
Nas últimas décadas, tarefas de classificação e segmentação de achados clínicos com uso de redes neurais convolucionais cresceram bastante na esfera do diagnóstico por imagem e, mais precisamente, na modalidade de imagem por ressonância magnética. Porém, pouco se sabe a respeito do comportamento dessas arquiteturas quando confrontadas com fatores que degradam a resolução espacial e a resolução de contraste, uma vez que a maioria dos modelos é treinada com imagens de alta qualidade, o que não é condizente com o cotidiano geral. Por isso, faz-se necessário analisar a performance das redes neurais pré-treinadas, sob condições em que haja deterioração da imagem de entrada. Neste trabalho, foram avaliados os efeitos da degradação de ambas as resoluções, tanto em tarefas de classificação quanto de segmentação de tumores cerebrais, para três arquiteturas: Mobilenet, Vgg16 e SEResNeXt50. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que as tarefas executadas são muito afetadas pelas distorções na qualidade das imagens, em especial nos casos em que as deteriorações se tornam mais intensas.
