Cuentos de Barro (1933), del escritor salvadoreño Salvador Salazar Arrué, es una de las piezas literarias más relevantes de la literatura centroamericana del siglo XX. El presente artículo analiza la citada obra de Salarrué desde una nueva perspectiva, con el objetivo de señalar la posible influencia, no advertida hasta la fecha, de la obra poética Romancero gitano (1928), del famoso poeta y dramaturgo español Federico García Lorca, en el origen de Cuentos de Barro. Este trabajo se servirá del método comparativo para lograr una lectura original, que ayudará a entender mejor el texto de Salarrué y a situarlo dentro de la tradición literaria a la que pertenece.
