Objetivo: Apresentar uma revisão breve atualizada sobre a perspectiva de futuro da Distrofia Muscular de Cinturas tipo 2A. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão Integrativa da literatura. As bases de dados utilizadas foram da PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs e Google Acadêmico, usando os MESH terms:” Muscular Dystrophies”, “Limb-Girdle”,” 2A”, “neurology”, “childhood”. Foram encontrados 91 artigos, destes foram selecionados 14 para elegibilidade, sendo incluído 4 artigos para esta revisão, de acordo com os critérios de inclusão. Resultados: A distrofia muscular de cinturas é uma prevalente e importante patologia do grupo de doenças musculares causadas por alterações genéticas incomuns, associada a perda da função motora e possibilidade de desenvolver cardiopatias. Por ser uma doença degenerativa de progressão rápida e mau prognóstico, surgindo na transição da infância para adolescência, é uma importante questão de saúde pública, que necessita de tratamento precoce e multiprofissional. Considerações finais: A distrofia de cinturas é um problema que afeta, além do jovem acometido, os serviços de saúde e o meio social. O tratamento multidisciplinar, precoce, com fisioterapia continua associada a abordagens moleculares recentes e a fármacos modernos é a melhor perspectiva de retardo da progressão da doença.
