La fluorosis dental (FD) es la hipomineralización del esmalte dental causada por el aumento de la porosidad, cuya severidad se debe a una ingesta excesiva de flúor (F) con relación dosis-respuesta durante el desarrollo del esmalte. El objetivo del trabajo fue determinar la correlación de los polimorfismos rs810687 y rs411717 del gen colágeno tipo 1 alfa 2 (COL1A2 ) con FD en niños mexicanos de 10 a 12 años, utilizando el Índice de Dean para establecer el grado de FD y PCR-HRM para la genotipificación de los polimorfismos. Se incluyeron 100 niños de 10.9 ± 0.78 años; las frecuencias alélicas y genotípicas encontradas fueron: G = 52.5%, A = 47.5%, G/G = 27.5%, G/A = 49.8%, A/A = 22.5%, C = 63.3%, T = 36.5%, C/C = 40.3%, C/T = 46.3%, T/T = 13.3% de los polimorfismos rs810687 y rs411717, respectivamente, con un coeficiente de correlación de Pearson r = –0.017 (p > 0.05) con FD. Los resultados mostraron que no existía correlación entre la FD y la presencia de los polimorfismos rs810687 y rs411717 del gen COL1A2.
La presencia de variaciones polimórficas en el gen ACTNIII influye en el rendimiento muscular y en el tipo fibras Alfa-actinina-3, presentando consecuencias funcionales de gran importancia clínica en el complejo estomatognático. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la frecuencia del polimorfismo rs1815739 del gen ACTNIII y su correlación con el resultado de dos tratamientos ortopédicos en maloclusión clase II (MoCII). Se realizó un estudio transversal comparativo en 66 alumnos, diagnosticados previamente con MoCII, de ocho escuelas secundarias generales en la ciudad de Durango, Durango. Se realizó la toma de muestra de sangre capilar del dedo índice para su posterior análisis y genotipificación bajo la técnica de reacción en cadena de la polimerasa con curvas de fundido de alta resolución (PCR-HRM, por sus siglas en inglés). Los participantes fueron agrupados de acuerdo con el genotipo y el tipo de mordida. Los resultados muestran que, aunque no se encontró una correlación estadísticamente significativa (S = 0.057, p = 0.650) entre las variables en estudio, se observa que uno de cada tres sujetos presenta el genotipo de riesgo homocigoto mutado (TT) (42%).
