Actualmente la inteligencia artificial es una disciplina científica que se ha venido aplicando desde inicios del presente siglo, especialmente en la gestión de recursos hídricos para mitigar el acentuado cambio climático mediante la interpretación de imágenes satelitales, monitorear y predecir la variación de cubierta vegetal, aparición o desaparición de acuíferos y lagos, variación de los volúmenes de escorrentía generadas en ríos, entre otros. De esta forma, la presente investigación busca mostrar la eficiencia del Machine Learning en el manejo de recursos hídricos. Se realizo mediante la revisión sistemática de base de datos científicas como SciELO, ScienceDirect, Redalyc, Scopus, Web of Science sobre contenidos de Inteligencia artificial aplicados a recursos hídricos. Como resultado se obtuvo que el Machine Learning optimiza los sistemas de alerta temprana, mapeo y teledetección. Concluyendo, que es un método de análisis de datos muy eficiente para la interpretación y modelado de información hidrometeorológica, especialmente al aplicarlo en cuencas hidrográficas.
