Películas delgadas de seleniuro de zinc (ZnSe) modificadas con iones Fe2+ y Cu2+, fueron obtenidas por el método de electrodeposición y fueron estudiadas como catalizadores en el proceso de fotoelectrocatálisis para la degradación de anaranjado de metilo (AM) con especies activas de cloro. La caracterización del material sintetizado indicó la presencia de micropartículas con un tamaño de 0,5 μm. Los difractogramas de rayos X, mostraron los planos (111) y (220) de ZnSe, así como el plano (111) de FeSe. Así también, los espectros Raman mostraron vibraciones características del ZnSe. La presencia de Zn, Se y Cu fueron corroborados por la técnica EDS, en una proporción no estequiométrica. Las películas de ZnSe y ZnSe-Fe mostraron máximos de absorción cercanos a 545 nm, mientras que la película de ZnSe-Cu mostró una reducción de energía hasta 595 nm. El compuesto ZnSe mostró una buena actividad electrocatalítica con decoloración total en 45 min, al introducir los iones de Fe2+ y Cu2+, mejoró el tiempo de decoloración a 35 min para ZnSe-Fe y 25 min para ZnSe-Cu.
