AbstractUsing a collaborative approach agreed upon by the researcher and a hockey coach, this study aims to describe and understand the impact of the implementation of a reading circle within a New Brunswick hockey team of young francophone boys aged 9 and 10. The study is particularly concerned with the personal experience of six disengaged readers throughout the project. Qualitative analysis of data gathered through interviews, questionnaires, and observations shows that motivation was constant and generalized for the duration of the project and that the disengaged readers evolved towards engagement in reading. The analysis identifies certain key elements that contributed to the success of the reading circle within the hockey team.
