Electricity generation with low inertia offers operational risks due to the high frequency gradients in the face of network disturbances providing solutions to this problem is a major challenge today in such a way that this work presents a heuristic method to tune controllers that provide frequency support, through the concept of synthetic or virtual inertia, in a Doubly Fed Induction Generator wind turbine. The gains are tuned by optimizing a cost function using computational methods, using the Python programming language and the ATP (Alternative Transient Program) software as the calculation core. The control strategies implemented offered promising results because there was a significant improvement in the generation response.
