O estudo visa analisar como as terras do sudoeste da Amazônia foram povoadas por diversas etnias, primeiro indígenas, depois grupos do nordeste brasileiro e finalmente do sul do país, culminando na luta dos "Povos da Floresta" por seus territórios. Este estudo realizado por meio de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, abrangeu os seguintes momentos históricos: as etnias indígenas existentes no território da tríplice fronteira Madre de Dios (Peru), Acre (Brasil) e Pando (Bolívia) - MAP; as ocupações nesta região após a colonização hispano-portuguesa; o 1º e 2º Ciclo da Borracha. A resistência dos seringueiros e conquista da Resex e a conciliação dos movimentos sociais com a oligarquia, através do capitalismo verde.
