ÖZ. Bu çalışmanın amacı, modelleme etkinlikleri bağlamında öğrenci çalışmalarını inceleyerek öğrencilerin düşünme biçimlerindeki hatalarını tespit eden lise matematik öğretmeni adaylarının, öğrencilerin bu hatalarına yönelik ne tür pedagojik yaklaşımlar sergilediklerini araştırmaktır. Çalışmanın verileri araştırmaya katılan 7 matematik öğretmen adayıyla gerçekleştirilen bire bir görüşmeler yoluyla toplanmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları öğretmen adaylarının öğrenci hatalarına yönelik müdahalelerinin beş yaklaşım altında toplanabileceğini göstermiştir: Soru sorma (sorgulama), doğruyu açıklama, doğru yolu hissettirme, hatayı söyleme/gösterme ve müdahale etmeme. Çalışmanın bulguları öğretmen adaylarının öğrenci hatalarına yönelik pedagojik yeterliliklerinin zayıflığına işaret etmektedir. Bu çerçevede, bu çalışma matematik eğitimcilerine öğretmen adaylarının matematik eğitimi derslerinde öğrenci düşünme şekillerini incelemesine ve öğrenci hatalarına cevap vermesine yönelik çalışmalara yer vermesini önermektedir. The purpose of this study was to investigate what pedagogical approaches prospective secondary mathematics teachers would display in response to students' errors revealed in students' works on mathematical modeling tasks. Data were collected through individual interviews with seven prospective mathematics teachers. The data analyses revealed five approaches that the prospective teachers preferred: Question-asking (questioning), explaining the right answer, hinting at the correct solution, telling/showing the error, non-intervention. The findings point out prospective teachers' weaknesses regarding their pedagogical competencies for approaching to students' errors. The findings suggest that in teacher education programs, mathematics teacher educators should provide appropriate mediums for prospective teachers to examine students' ways of thinking and to respond to students' errors.
This study investigates a group of pre-service physics teachers' perceptions about the causes of problems in school experience through the attribution theory. The participants were thirteen pre-service physics teachers from a public university in Turkey. Data were collected through the interviews by requesting the participants to reflect their own problems encountered during school experience, and discuss the reasons for these problems. Audio-recorded interviews were transcribed and coded under six themes. The results revealed that (i) 1/3 of the attributions regarding the causes of problems in their school experience were internal, (ii) the internal and external attributions were mainly linked, and (iii) a limited number of attributions have an iterative relation with each other. Improvement of internal elements might be effective for preventing the external causes of the problems.
