Aligning with the broader discussion of migration, seasonal migration also resembled a multifold phenomenon ranging from reasons of temporal movement to settling down process at the place of destination. In this paper, seasonal migration was portrayed in between the ' alarmists' view and ' skeptic' view of migration, holding a new position called ' opportunistic migration' that seemed to offer benefits to the seasonal migrants characterizing by gaining social knowledge and earning money from the place of destination. The empirical data, face-to-face in-depth interviews, showed that both social and economic aspects of seasonal migration were dominated by the pull factors, and environmental aspects were linked with the push factors. This paper also highlighted that social network played an active role for seasonal migrants, in particular, the workers who seasonally migrated into the brickfields of southwest coastal Bangladesh. While migrating Proceedings of the RAIS Conference I APRIL 4-5, 2018 258 from the rural to the urban context, two-tier verbal agreements took place in between the brickfield owners with the contractors, and the contractors with the brickfield workers. Though those verbal agreements seemed to contain some extent of the failure of expectations by the above-mentioned actors related to seasonal migration, it also held optimism of development for every actor. Finally, this paper reused the term ' collateral promise' with a slighter social tone to understand the informal interactions among the employers, contractors, and the seasonal migrants.
Pharmaceuticals agglomerations consistently use their brand image and versatile product portfolios to consolidate their position in the financial sector, which is evident in their continuous profit making and expansion in market share. This paper explores the short-term and long-term investment attractiveness through 'consumer centric decision' approach in two selected pharmaceutical companies, Renata Limited and Orion Pharma Limited, of Bangladesh over the last three years' period. This research adopts a systematic approach which primarily addresses the various concerns of investors to illustrate the decision-making process of the existing and future investors. Using primarily domestic transaction data, this study explores how the leading pharmaceuticals companies of Bangladesh effectively use the wide array of drug portfolios mix with appropriate branding techniques to increase their financial profit and market share simultaneously. Both SWOT analysis and Porters Five Forces Model explore the business analysis of Renata Limited in compare to Orion Pharma Limited that provides a conclusion regarding investors' decision to invest in Renata Limited. Considering the financial analysis, Renata's financial liquidity is not very satisfactory and could have been improved further if management is prudent on financial strategy settings. Findings of the business analysis indicate that Renata Limited would be a good investment choice for existing and prospective shareholders based on its opportunities for long term and short term growth and further expansion in developing the market. The results suggest that even lower liquidity coupled with higher interest borrowings can be balanced by posing positive picture to the public shareholders by returning the positive dividend to them.
Road traffic accident occurrences are terrible global phenomena all over the world. With more and different motorized vehicles, Bangladesh and Khulna city face a more significant number of fatalities and injuries. The metropolitan city is one of the riskiest places for road accidents because of its higher population density than in any other location. Road accidents in Khulna city are a significant problem, and they are increasing day by day. So, to reduce the severity of road accidents, the factors influencing road accident severity in Khulna city must be studied and analyzed. Binomial logistic regression is selected and applied to predict the risk or severity of 266 accidents from 2010 to 2019, collected by the Traffic Branch of the Deputy Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police. The response variable for this study is accident severity (fatal and non-fatal). According to the study's findings, the number of injuries, number of fatalities, vehicle velocity, accident time, collision type, type of vehicle, and vehicle ownership influence the severity of road traffic accidents in Khulna. This study and its recommendations will aid in developing and implementing future road traffic policies and safety measures.
