The low prevalence of parasites among the appendectomy specimens did not support the notion that parasites were a major cause of appendicitis in pediatric patients.

The present results provide some explanation for the previously noted high incidence of Kaposi's sarcoma in Saudi transplant patients.

Sonoelastography may be superior to other US modalities in elucidating different cervical lymph node biopsy helping to distinguish benign from malignant lesions. This may replace the lymph node biopsies in the future. Moreover, its use in the follow-up of patients with cervical malignancies may reduce the number of future biopsies. Further studies with more patients may be needed for a better assessment of results.

Cholecystocholangiography is a valid alternative to cystic duct catheterization in its ability to achieve intra-operative cholangiography in the setting of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Background: Septoplasty and rhinoplasty are difficult operations to learn and teach. Many modalities have been proposed to make the teaching process of these operations easier. In this study, it was investigated if lamb heads were good training models to teach septoplasty and rhinoplasty to trainees or experienced surgeons. Methods: In the first part of the study, 21 lamb heads were dissected according to a dissection protocol and several anatomical distances were measured in order to compare them with human cadavers. In the second project 8 lamb heads were dissected and different preservation rhinoplasty techniques were practiced. Results: The study on 21 lamb heads used showed that the lateral crura were 17.8 x 11.6, average interdomal distance was 8.1 mm, average domal width was 3.7 mm. The average length of the upper lateral cartilages was 31.1 mm laterally and 21.2 medially. The average length of the nasal bones was 63.9 mm and the width was 16 mm. In the second part of the study 8 lamb heads were used to experience where high strip techniques were used in 5 and Cottle technique in 3. Conclusion: This study revealed that lamb head should be considered as an excellent training model for septoplasty and rhinoplasty. Its very low cost, ease of availability, and close similarity to the human cadavers can be counted as the main advantages. This study also proved that it was not only a tool for beginners, but also a very helpful tool for experienced surgeons to try new methods.

Meticulous EUA facilitates the accurate diagnosis and planning of the surgical approach to patients with an impalpable testis and should remain part of the surgeon's skill set. It is an inexpensive initial evaluation tool that may help in saving hospital resources, especially in developing countries.

Aim: To assess the role of Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and pelvic organ prolapse quantification (POPQ) system in the evaluation of female pelvic organ prolapse. Design: Prospective study. Setting: TantaUniversityHospital. Patients: The study was carried out on 60 patients having clinical manifestations suggesting pelvic floor weakness. Intervention: All the patients were subjected to history taking, physical examination including POPQ, and pelvic MRI (static and dynamic) examination. Outcome measures: Quantitative measurements of genital prolapse. Results: All patients showed loss of the normal position of the perineal plate indicating generalized weakness of the whole pelvic floor muscles. Dynamic MRI exhibited pelvic floor abnormalities in 46 patients who did not show any abnormalities on the static images. Conclusion: Dynamic MRI is a helpful tool in defining the nature and quantitative measurements of pelvic organ prolapse. Also, MRI has and advantage over POPQ system in diagnosing lateral prolapse.
