Solid dispersion techniques have been used to enhance the dissolution and oral bioavailability of many poorly water soluble drugs (1). To overcome the solubility problem discussed above, many authors formulated solid dispersions using number of various polymers and methods. In spite of tremendous research activity on solid dispersions since 1961, their commercial application is limited. Only a few products have been marketed so far. One aspect of solid dispersion technology on which most workers in the field would agree is that the number of marketed products arising from this approach has been disappointing. Research for alternative carriers has been increasing to suit for the industrial applications as well as to reduce the production cost and toxic effects. Recently, many natural polymers have been evaluated for their uses in formulation of solid disper-ABSTRACT Natural polymers and its modified forms can be used as best alternative for improving bioavailability of poorly water soluble drugs in solid dispersion. Most of the natural polymers are hydrophilic and having high swelling capacity. Recent trend towards the use of natural polymer demands the replacement of synthetic additives with natural ones. Many plant derived natural polymers are studied for use in solid dispersion systems, out of which natural gums, cyclodextrin and carbohydrate are most extensively studied and used. This review discusses about the majority of these natural polymers, its uses and some recent investigations about modification of natural polymer in solid dispersion systems.
SUMMARY Thin films of environmentally safe, halogen free, anionic sodium phosphate and cationic polysiloxanes were deposited on a Nyco (1:1 nylon/cotton blend) fabric via layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly to reduce the inherent flammability of Nyco fabric. In the coating process, we used three different polysiloxane materials containing different amine groups including, 35–45% (trimethylammoniummethylphenythyl)‐methyl siloxane‐55‐65% dimethyl siloxane copolymer chloride salt (QMS‐435), aminoethylaminopropyl silsesquioxane‐methylsilsesquioxane copolymer oligomer (WSA‐7021) and aminopropyl silesquioxane oligomers (WSA‐991), as a positive polyelectrolyte. Thermo‐gravimetric analysis showed that coated fabric has char yield around 40% at 600 °C whereas control fabric was completely consumed. The vertical flame test (VFT) on the LbL‐coated Nyco fabric was passed with after flame time, 2 s, and the char length of 3.81 cm. Volatile and nontoxic degradation products of flame retardant‐coated fabric were analyzed by pyrolysis gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (Py‐GCMS). Surface morphology of coated fabrics and burned fabric residues were studied by scanning electron microscopy. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
We report an easy and simple approach for making silver nanotubes (NTs) using electrospinning.
Go-mutra therapy provides an especially rich and provocative research topic. The ancient scriptures of ayurveda consider cow urine to be the elixir of life. Cow urine is one of the five contents of Panchagavya which obtain from cow (urine, milk, ghee, curd and dung). Cow based treatment is called as Panchagavya Chikitsa (Cowpathy). Cow urine is a divine medicine and is used for treatment of diabetes, blood pressure, asthma, psoriasis, eczema, heart attack, blockage in arteries, fits, cancer, AIDS, piles, prostrate, arthritis, migraine, thyroid, ulcer, acidity, constipation, gynaecological problems, It also increase the nitrogen content of the soil, for better rearing of honey bees, hasten the pubertal age of the heifers exposed to bull’s urine and as pesticide and larvicide for the fodder crops. Cow urine contains all substances, which are naturally present in the human body. Thus, consumption of cow urine maintains the balance of these substances and this helps cure incurable diseases like cancer, AIDS, autoimmune disorders better benefits in case of antibiotic resistance infectious diseases. Cow urine is excellent bioenhancer and recently Cow urine distillate has been granted U.S. patents. Further researches is required to prove its qualities and benefits.Various actions and researches on cow urine are summarized in this article. It is the most effective natural remedy and the safest method of treatment on nature based. Keywords: Gomutra, Panchgavya, CUC, Vermicompost, Immunostimulant.
In the field of molecular modeling, docking may be a method which predicts the well-liked orientation of any molecule to a receptor to make a stable complex. Knowledge of the well-liked orientation successively could also be able to predict the strength of association or binding affinity between two molecules using, for instance, scoring functions. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors block cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that promotes inflammation. COX-2 enzyme converts to prostaglandin via arachidonic acid, causing pain and inflammatory responses. They are mainly present in places of inflammation and are responsible for formation of prostanoids (prostacyclins, prostaglandins and thromboxane) as part of the inflammatory response. COX-2 inhibitors are used to relieve pain raised from the inflammation. In the present study, the marketed COX-II inhibitors are subjected for the docking study and the drug likeness study which validate that the drugs show the optimum binding energy and drug likeness score with optimum bioactive score.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
